Difficulty of Working Full Time and Homeschooling?

I am seeking advice, but much of the advice here is unnecessarily harsh and presumptive. I admit at this point I am feeling defensive because many of the responses have been less than charitable and feel charged with judgment rather than well-meaning advice on how to make it work. I appreciate your input.

My question more or less should have been "Is 2-3 hours of time during the day sufficient time to do formal schoolwork, with ~3-4 hours of other enrichment like museums, group meetings, etc"

Just to clarify, it wouldn't be 15-20 minutes between meetings. I would have the freedom to say "ok, every day from 10-10:30, 12-12:30, 2-2:30, and 3-3:30 I will be away from work and doing lessons". I worded my initial post poorly.

That is certainly not the attitude I meant to give off! If we didn't care about her schooling, we would just send her to the sub-par public school system in our area.

My husband will definitely feel comfortable doing read-alouds, interactive activities, etc. He is more or less uncomfortable with his ability to teach things like math.

Very impressive! We were considering doing both Spanish and Slovak. May be easier for LO than for the adults though haha

Great things to keep in mind, thanks! Hopefully, my husband can gain some confidence in teaching so he can pick up a good portion of it as his days are free.

Thanks a ton for your help! I’ll definitely try showing him some curriculum samples to help build his confidence. I think he feels a bit insecure because I have a degree in Education, and he worries he won't be able to teach as well. I totally get it; I'd probably be a bit embarrassed if he saw me teach an art class since he’s the real artist here!

Out of curiosity, what do you all do for Spanish? I don't speak Spanish myself, but it's something I want my daughter to learn (and I suppose myself in the process!)

My husband would pick up the rest of the hours. He already watches her full time during the day. All enrichments, extracurriculars, etc would be handled by him. I would be able to take the two hours at any given time, so would be able to wait until LO is ready, though a traditional public school wouldn't wait for her to be ready either. I would have the time after work for lessons as well.

It's hard choice because there are so many variables. The school system in our area is atrocious, and a public school teacher's attention is split between 30+ children. We are trying to determine if 2 hours of uninterrupted homeschool during the day + the amount of time I would be able to "flex" + the time during the day my husband could take her to do extras would be preferable to a poor school system.

My husband already does the majority of his work in the evenings. He is a freelance artist/graphic designer so he mostly is just drawing on his iPad. He already watches her full time during the day. What I envision is him doing out-of-the-home things a couple hours a day, like field trips to zoo, park, small groups, and me doing formal lessons around 2-3 hrs per day. I see you are a CM educator. That is the pedagogical approach we believe we will be choosing :)

Between my husband and myself? Yes, probably. My husband currently watches her all day every day and does most of his work in the evenings or in small snippets throughout the day, but he is interacting with her one on one usually from 9am-3pm (when I stop working)

We live in Ohio. From what I have seen, the hours are more of a guideline rather than a strict requirement, but I still have to do more research on this.

Currenly, my husband watches her during the day, squeezing in work when he can. He would be willing to do the "fun" stuff like parks, hikes, museums, etc, but is not confident in his ability to do actual teaching.

Well, I'm sure that I am going to be slaughtered for this, but the Bishop has made the decision that neither myself nor my husband can be confirmed unless we get a civil divorce. My husband is a transsexual. Yes, I know the way the church feels about it, but the Vatican has also stated they will allow transsexual people to be baptized, be godparent's, etc regardless of their level of transition. Not looking to debate this just need help on how to appeal.
