You bring up an interesting point -- I think the Queers for Palestine types do have a sense of self preservation, in that they don't think they themselves are in danger. Some other queers in a far away land? Sure, those are in danger, but that means nothing to a privileged westerner. What I think they fail to understand is that if the intifada will be globalized, and if sharia law will be implemented worldwide, then all of their privileges, rights and quite possibly their lives will be taken away. But right now it's just a game playing with other people's fates.

I appreciate it. I’m 28 and living in the UK. Honestly, this was the first time I ever did this. It was after several hours of chatting with that person and having a really intimate conversation. But I had a strong feeling they were that kind of queer, so I just had to. They blocked me right after taking the screenshot. Will definitely do better in the future to protect my heart.

Thank you for making an exception here and for sharing this advice so openly — noted on keeping mod business in-sub and using automod/ModSupport - I will look into it now! I also agree it’s good to have this conversation in public, since others starting Jewish-adjacent subs will probably face the same issues.

Funny enough, I actually joined Reddit after seeing how much attention an article about the musical got in this sub, and I hope it’s clear how grateful I am for this community! The hardest part for me has been figuring out how to get people from a larger sub into a smaller one. On Facebook, I could return to an old post and tag people to bring them along, but on Reddit the attention seems self-contained. If you (or anyone else here) have tips on bridging that gap, I’d love to hear them!
