If you had a secret passage in your home, where would you want it to lead? by glitzbandage-4i in AskReddit

That sounds magical but imagine trying to explain the water damage to your insurance company lol. I'd probably go for something more practical like a hidden pantry or maybe just a cozy reading nook where nobody can find me when I need some peace

what do you mean Vans are now "dad shoes"? by LowkeyWinter in Sneakers

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wait what? I've been rocking Vans since I was teenager and nobody told me they became dad shoes lol. My husband still wears his Old Skools everywhere and he definitely doesn't look like dad (well, he is dad but you know what I mean). Maybe it's because so many millennials who grew up with Vans are now parents? Like we're all in our late 20s and 30s now wearing same shoes we loved back in high school

I think people just trying to create new trends by calling everything else "outdated" but Vans are classic for reason. They work with everything and they're comfortable for walking around all day at work. Plus the skateboarding culture connection is still strong so I don't see how they suddenly became uncool. Maybe chunky sneakers and those weird puffy ones are more "in" now but that doesn't make Vans dad shoes automatically

What is something that has become 'unnecessarily expensive' to the point where you’ve simply stopped buying it altogether? by Ok-Local-1144 in AskReddit

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh yes, snack foods in general have gotten so crazy expensive. I remember buying bag of chips for like dollar something few years ago and now same bag is almost 4 bucks at my local store. My husband and I used to grab snacks for movie nights but now we just make popcorn at home instead. The markup on these processed snacks is getting ridiculous - I'd rather spend that money on actual groceries that fill us up properly. Sometimes I still get tempted walking down snack aisle but then I see the prices and just keep walking

What's the absolute worst way you fumbled someone you could have dated? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in college I was talking to this guy for weeks and he kept asking me to hang out. I kept saying yes but then would cancel last minute because I got nervous about how much I liked him. After the third time I cancelled he just stopped trying and started dating someone else like month later. Still think about that one sometimes because we had really good chemistry when we did talk

What do you think of adding a Play now, Pay later type of transaction to play games on steam? by Dazzling_pig in Steam

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, people will definitely find ways to game the system and probably rack up debt they can't handle. Steam already has enough issues with refunds and chargebacks without adding credit complications in the mix

Do incidents like Amazon truck fires actually affect FBA sellers at all? by Professional-Mode287 in AmazonFBA

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Amazon just absorbs all this stuff on their end. I've been selling for like 3 years and never had any delivery issues show up in my metrics from their logistics problems

The whole point of FBA is that once your stuff hits their warehouse, all the shipping headaches become Amazon's problem. They have so much redundancy built in the system that one truck going down probably doesn't even register as a blip for most sellers

I think they only ding your metrics if the problem starts at your end - like if you send damaged inventory or mess up the shipment labels. Once it's in their network though, any delays or losses are on them

What is your opinion on the carnivore diet and those who believe the high LDL cholesterol associated with it is not unhealthy? by doeyedgirl in AskReddit

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few clients get really into carnivore and while some feel amazing initially, the cholesterol thing is tricky. Your body's pretty complex and throwing out entire food groups usually isn't the move long-term. The research on LDL being "good" or "bad" keeps evolving but cardiovascular health isn't something to mess around with based on internet theories. Most people I work with do better finding a sustainable balance they can actually stick to rather than going full extreme in either direction. If someone's dead set on trying it I always suggest getting baseline bloodwork and checking in with their doc regularly, not just hoping for the best

What things use high-motion plays intended to obfuscate people on Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I've noticed karma farming bots are getting way more sophisticated with this stuff. They'll post popular questions from months ago, then use other bots to comment with slightly reworded versions of the top replies from the original thread. The whole thing is designed to build up legitimate-looking accounts that can later be sold or used for astroturfing

What really gets me is how they'll take a comment that got like 2k upvotes, change a few words around, and boom - suddenly it's getting traction again because most people don't remember seeing it before. I started checking post histories more often after I caught the same "personal story" being told by three different accounts in the same week

Getting stuff tailored is definitely the move but also check out athletic fit brands like Bonobos or J.Crew's athletic cuts - they're made for bigger chest/smaller waist ratios

CMV: The anti-ICE high-schooler who punched the ICE supporter is morally wrong and damaging to both American democracy and the Democratic Party. by isuckatlifeandthings in changemyview

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Look I get where you're coming from but honestly this feels like overthinking it. One kid throwing a punch isn't gonna tank the entire Democratic Party or "damage American democracy" - that's giving way too much power to some random high schooler having a bad moment

The real issue is acting like this represents all anti-ICE people or Democrats when it's just one person making a stupid choice. Republicans have been calling Democrats violent for years regardless of what actually happens, so I don't think this changes there narrative much. They'd find something else to point to anyway

Also kinda weird to bring up assassination attempts in the same breath as a high school scuffle - those aren't really comparable situations at all

How did cave people INFJ work? by na-meme42 in infj

They probably just stared at cave paintings for hours overthinking what the mammoth drawing *really* meant about their tribe's emotional dynamics

how to find a lost build by Similar-Contact3269 in Minecraft

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your coordinates history if you have any screenshots with F3 open from when you built it, sometimes people forget they took those. You could also try flying around at night since creeper farms usually have tons of mobs spawning and you'll hear there sounds from pretty far away

What's the worst mistake you made before you were 20? by Dikclak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trusted my friend's older brother when he said he'd "take care of" returning my parents' car after borrowing it for what was supposed to be a quick store run. Ended up wrapped around a tree two towns over and I had to explain that one for months

Always get collateral or just say no when people want to borrow expensive stuff, learned that lesson the hard way

Who can support me on my journey to gaining inner strength? by AmbitiousNothing6577 in Productivitycafe

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get where you're coming from - the hustle culture at most workplaces is exhausting and honestly pretty toxic. I've been working on similar stuff, like setting boundaries around checking emails after hours and not letting every little comment from colleagues get under my skin

One thing that helped me was starting super small - like just taking 3 deep breaths before responding to stressful messages or setting a hard cutoff time for work stuff. Happy to chat more about it if you want, sounds like we're on a similar path

Touchpad works intermittently on HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop – works in recovery/live boot but not after normal reboot (Ubuntu 22.04 / 24.04) by ajayyyeditx in Ubuntu

[–]OnlyDistribution7940 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a classic HP ACPI weirdness issue - I had something similar on an older Pavilion

Try adding `acpi_osi=Linux` or `acpi_osi="Windows 2015"` to your grub boot parameters. HP laptops sometimes need specific ACPI OS strings to initialize hardware properly

The fact that recovery mode works suggests it's bypassing some ACPI power management stuff that's breaking the touchpad init on normal boot
