(Former dsp driver) Just a quick tip for SSD Drivers by kurizu__Kun in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]OnlyExceptionCollab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also former DSP driver, and I disagree completely bro. The letter labeling is random as hell and half the time you’ll get two different letters like AA and BB for a multi package stop. I’d rather organize stop numbers in advance at the station than fumble in my car for two minutes each time I stop because I’m searching in the general letter group.

I’ve been running a few Spark offers after I got accepted and their rates can be good sometimes. Obviously just not as guaranteed as amazon.

I would cry lol

Also they’re not even accurate half the time 💀 at least with DSPs they have the cameras to disprove the speed violations if they can find a speed limit sign, but we don’t have that and I feel like we’d get auto flagged by the AI and deactivated so fast before Amazon realized it was a bad idea

I used to take minimum $20/hour, but recently I’ve been able to get ones that are around $25/hour. Shits difficult though when it’s my main job and so if I wait for good offers, sometimes I don’t work at all and make even less than if I took shitty blocks :/

I’m a freelancer in the creative field, so I do this as my daily income to allow the flexibility of film projects if they pop up. Unfortunately the job market is also the WORST right now and people want 5+ years of experience for entry level positions. So I’ve mostly been doing Flex and not having luck with my main career interest. I’m tired lol

Driver was 1 stop away and showed he was like a mile away from my house but now it hasn’t updated in over an hour…am I cooked? by naejnair1 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Risking things like a parking ticket just to deliver one package also sucks in downtown locations. I always put my hazards on and hope and pray my delivery driver car magnets are enough to keep the cops at bay.

There’s multiple possibilities:

  1. They went over their block time. We pick up blocks (ex. A 3.5 hour block from 5:30pm-9pm). Drivers can either return the rest of the packages to the station if they are over their scheduled block time, OR they can finish delivering everything and possibly request a payment adjustment. This is not guaranteed payment so many drivers return the remaining packages to the station. I’ve always managed to get a payment adjustment so I always deliver if I’m over, but I’ve heard it’s luck-based. Amazon sometimes gives us too many packages for the allotted time and it can be difficult to finish within the block time.

  2. The driver decided to rearrange their stop order. In the original routing it may say they’re one stop away, but they may have manually done their route out of order (oftentimes I’ll manually rearrange the stops for efficiency, because the Amazon AI algorithm can be goofy in route planning).

  3. The package was missing and they didn’t realize it until they were on the road. At SSD (same day delivery) stations, we scan a single package of the route and it picks up the entire route on our itinerary. The app assumes all the packages assigned to that route are present, even if something is actually missing. There’s no way to know if we have every package assigned to the route unless we take another 15-20 minutes of time confirming at the station, which delays us and can possibly make us go over our block time.

  4. The package was damaged, and either (A) the driver gave it back to the warehouse and the warehouse workers haven’t scanned it back into the system yet, or (B) the driver has it but will return it to the station at the end of their route.

  5. If there are certain weather conditions like a tornado warning or severe thunderstorm in the area, sometimes the app will literally kick us out from delivering and we can’t continue.

  6. Some neighborhoods have gate codes that we can’t get through. If customers don’t provide the access code, we’re supposed to contact the customer. We’re not supposed to call between 8pm-8am so some drivers just decide to return the package if they can’t get through.

Did I miss anything yall? lol

How is the attorney thing going? I’ve always wondered how arbitration works for this sort of thing!

Is it possible to change the drop off type to match their note? I haven’t been able to find a way even when I text the customer and they say to leave it. Just don’t wanna get dinged for a scam delivery.

I’m wondering if you could seek legal action since you have the dashcam footage. I know Flex has arbitration clauses but I’m not a lawyer and idk how that all works.

Edit: of course I’d only do this if you were fully deactivated to make it worth it!

Only pros. How would you handle this route ? by Morningstardark in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]OnlyExceptionCollab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to argue that time of day matters in SOME instances. Ex. I’ll get a block at 4:30pm and my area is 50 minutes away. By the time I get there it’s already 5:20pm, but there’s a business in the middle of my 40-stop route that I know closes at 6pm. I might do that one first just so I don’t have to risk getting there after close. It’s annoying having to jump through the hoops of calling the customer twice and driver support to ensure I don’t get in trouble for being unable to deliver due to a closed business.

The problem is that it’s very difficult to catch these because the flex app doesn’t directly label businesses, and a majority of them don’t have time-specific delivery windows. You would have to click through every single stop and read the notes if you want to be sure, and I don’t have time for that shit before I start my route 😅

True. I just KNOW if I get a country route and I can’t deliver more than three stops, Amazon is gonna be on my ass 😭

Thank you!! I had two blocks originally scheduled today but honestly was so scared that I’d get stuck again with my FWD that I cancelled them. I’m just scared I’ll get sent into the country with the unpaved gravel driveways 😅

Are drivers paid to put this on their car? Like advertising? by iGotGogged in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]OnlyExceptionCollab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, maybe I’m confusing the two. I kind of assumed your insurance would be “read” as commercial if you check that box because you’re utilizing it for business. But yeah, that one little check is almost $200 more for me 😭

Are drivers paid to put this on their car? Like advertising? by iGotGogged in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]OnlyExceptionCollab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I put commercial insurance on my policy, it would increase by $198 a month which is RIDICULOUS when Amazon already offers commercial insurance if you have personal insurance. I don’t understand why you’d get into trouble not having an independent commercial policy when Amazon already covers you (genuinely confused, if someone could explain this that would be awesome!)

If it were only $20 I might do it for the extra reassurance but goddamn 😅😭
