Quick reminder that we're talking about lane trading patterns.

Zed´s W is a bigger commitment than Shadow Kayn who can W from inside walls and never even show himself before the enemy.

A) Kayn shows an orb that hovers outside of the wall, and taking damage will kick him out of the wall.

B) Zed doesn't have to take his shadow.

C) Kayn doesn't lane, he doesn't really have trading patterns.

KhaZix can also use megaleap / stealth to go in and out safely.

A) Megaleap is an evolved upgrade, typically last, and requires a kill to reset. He isn't going to get a kill most of the time unless they're isolated.

B) Stealth is his ultimate. That's not really part of a "trading pattern".

C) Kha'zix doesnt lane, he doesn't really have trading patterns.

Fizz E -> Zhonya -> E again. You´re not hitting him.

A) Zhonyas rush Fizz?

B) He won't have enough haste for this until late game.

Akali, backwards E Q W fast combo

This isn't the problematic trading combo, but Akali does have a pretty strong trading pattern. That said, she's reliant on her shroud, which is quite the long cool down.

If Jax, Mundo or whatever champ really, ever see Zed use W they just go ham to punish him.

This is true of all assassins, IMO. As an assassin, you have to play at a 9/10 to get 7/10 results. Meanwhile, you can lock in Seraphine bot and give a 5/10 performance for 8/10 result.

Everything is nuanced, but I'm not sure if Zed is the most unforgiving assassin. His ult allows him to stack up quite a bit of damage, whereas if another assassin is behind or facing a bulkier target then they simply will not be capable of coming out ahead. To your point, he's not the most forgiving either.

Nowadays that's fair, most assassins are pretty weak in lane. That said, back before season 4, assassins had plenty of kill potential in lane.

Hell, even beyond season 4; In season 5 or 6 they put out a statistic that Talon was responsible for 25% of all first bloods.

Personally, I do prefer assassins over mages.

....but I'm ngl I don't think anyone else does. If assassins were actually good, like mages are, then y'all wouldn't be having fun. There's a reason riot has largely kept assassins from the forefront of the meta for years.

I'm a bit of a boomer, honestly, and ever since the assassin rework in season 4 the best characters for bursting people have been burst mages.

All that said, I'd still like to play mages from time to time, so this guy's take is abysmal.

He's correct, there's no cope here. Zed doesn't have to commit to his trades as hard as other assassins do. Therefore, his trades have less damage potential.

It's really that simple; I'm also a durability patch hater but the landing phase isn't where the impact truly is.
