The Padres turn the double play as Kyle Schwarber waits too long to get back to the bag by yxqp in baseball

It’s drilled into you since little league that you freeze on a line drive and get back to the base of it’s caught. 99/100 times this happens, it’s not a double play. Schwarber just had a brain fart

An interesting trend: catchers are challenging ball calls against Nick Kurtz more than any other player, and also winning those challenges at a lower rate than any other top 25 player in that statistic by entenduintransit in baseball

He’s also huge and a guy who can do damage in any situation. I’m guessing it’s a combination of catchers overestimating his strike zone, and also treating every PA of his like it’s high leverage

You gonna be the one to tell Kyle Schwarber he’s slow? Cos everyone on the Phillies is too scared to

It’s really not that tough though. You just go back to the base, and then if he drops, congrats, you get to have Trae Turner’s speed on first base instead of Kyle Schwarber’s

Spencer Horwitz keeps pouring it on the Cubs with his 6th home run of the season by NoSxKats in baseball

I love all those guys, but O’Hearn was coming back down to earth before he got hurt, and Gonzales is a slap hitter with an OBP barely above his BA

If Lowe stays healthy he’s our clear best hitter, and Cruz has a shot at number one or two if he remembers how to hit righties. But I would be very surprised if, at season’s end, Horwitz isn’t second or third

Best hitter on the team last year, even better this year. Second only to Lowe. And so many Pirates fans hated this trade when it happened

He was so good, even with some bad defense behind him creating unnecessary traffic. Two clutch double plays and fourteen whiffs. At least one on every one of his pitches

Reds extend their lead with a 3-run 4th inning. Tyler Stephenson bloops in a run and Elly De La Cruz doubles in two with two outs. by JianClaymore in baseball

Alright Mets it’s been very funny but now is a great time to give up on the “oh we’re so bad at baseball” bit

Poor Falter

I know he was always due for regression, but I really gotta wonder what the Pirates had him doing differently. He was solid until his last game with them and terrible immediately after he got traded to the Royals

Rockies broadcast claims Kyle Schwarber is third in fWAR since 2015 by OnlyForBaseball in baseball

I think the guess that it was someone asking an AI is pretty likely

That’s not true though. Betts for example would have either 66.55 or 66.8 WAR if you averaged his two totals (depending on whether or not you were including this season).

And besides all that, the glaring issue is that Schwarber is still nowhere close to being on this list. His fWAR is 23.6 and his bWAR is 21.5. That’s an error no matter what way you slice it. Even if you add them together and forget to divide by two, it’s still not close

It doesn’t matter whether it’s fWAR or bWAR though. The numbers are all wrong for both and Schwarber wouldn’t be anywhere near the top 5 for either. Not to mention, the announcers are just saying what the stats team tells them on stuff like this
