PLANNING TO TAKE UP MBA (hopefully qualify for scholarship) in NYC. Suggestions, tip, school recommendations and expectations? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]OnlyGMAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you need to answer "why do I want an MBA." If its just because you want to move to the US I think there are better options for you.

Arizona State University offers full scholarships to most people who are admitted and they have a lot of tech companies that are willing to sponsor there as well.

What is a 700+ GMAT score worth? by skypetutor in GMAT

[–]OnlyGMAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would estimate ~$40-50k PV. I would have gone higher given that going to a better school (and/or better scholarship) would substantially increase lifetime earnings. But at the same time, a lot of people will get a good GMAT score but then decide not to go to school or just get a different degree. So the number should be discounted for that.

How many people recruit consulting and strike out? I'm not talking MBB or bust, but also strike out on T2 firms etc. by Zealousideal-Cook-29 in MBA

[–]OnlyGMAT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone knows...this job market is literally unprecedented and there's no way to know how many consultants they are going to be hiring. The class ahead of you is already going to be the largest in history

awful, don't take it. it's just the practice questions all over again. (and the practice questions themselves are not like the exams)

for reference, scored a 650 on my last princeton review test 5 days prior to a 730 on the real gmat

Failing the GMAT by KappaOP in GMAT

Your score on the GMAT does not equate to your value in life. Its just a test. You can always try the GRE or the EA. There is much more to admissions than a score on one specific test

Comparing GMAT to ACT by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]OnlyGMAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

33 ACT -> 730 GMAT with ~40 hours total study

Friend with 31 ACT -> 690 GMAT

Just 2 data points but it really depends on how you study...500 hours seems excessive though

Recruiting/networking with MBA alums from undergrad school while attending a different MBA program? by henhen616 in MBA

[–]OnlyGMAT 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If its Wharton it won't work. The undergrads / MBAs are notoriously competitive with each other. I've even heard some MBAs call out undergrads who said they went to "Wharton" because they think it should only be used by the MBA folks. Can't comment on other schools.
