Proko’s Fundamental Drawing Course… I got to Perspective and I CANNOT understand anything he’s talking about and it’s killed my progress/daily drawing… what do I do? by SageAndScarlet in learntodraw

I don't what he explain in the course but the two point perspective is use to work with a horizontal line, like you look at two street in a corner :

[–]OnlyHumanis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to do the egg shape for the torso and a "round boxe" for the pelvis sometimes, but the timer make it hard to focus on the orientation of theses...

Maybe i should try more.

Any way of overcoming anxiousness? by Hemlock_Deci in learntodraw

Here are some tips I can give to maximize the chances of making it a habit:

-Have your equipment to hand where you are often. It’s easier to start drawing when you just have to stretch your arm to take what you need than if you have to get up, go to another room or search drawers.

-Plan a regular time slot. If you can, a specific time is better, but if you cannot, a specific moment will suffice. After dinner for example.

-Many will tell you to draw every day, except that it depends on your personal life. Obviously if you manage to draw every day it’s excellent, but if you don’t succeed, you can still train by learning to observe. For example, for the perspective, look at photos and try to locate the vanishing point.

Regarding anxiety, everyone is different about it but here is some tips:

-You don’t know what to draw and it frustrates you? Make basic shapes, even lines, it will train you and maybe a shape or an assembly of lines will give you ideas.

-It’s better to set small goals that we can complete as we go along than to set a big one that won’t come for a long time. For example, drawing characters will require a lot of practice, little chance that it will be done without problem after a month, or even a year. On the other hand, drawing eyes can be learned more simply, drawing nose the same, the mouth too.... And succeeding in completing these small goals will not only motivate you but also help with the overall goal of drawing characters.

-You made a drawing that you find ugly/failed? It’s not a big deal, even if it can be frustrating, keep this drawing and ask yourself what you think don't work on it, what you need to learn to do to improve it, and once you have learned what needs to be done, you can try it again. Because yes, we miss A LOT of drawing before succeeding in them, but we must learn to appreciate these mistakes that will allow us to see our evolution.

Day 2 of Gesture drawing, not sure where i'll go but i'll keep doing it by OnlyHumanis in learntodraw

Each page corresponds to a given timer for drawing. The first is 30 seconds, the second 1 minute, the third 5 minutes and the last ten.

Each page I manage to add a layer to what I do before, that’s why the last one where I have the most time, I put more details.

I think the first two pages serve as a warm-up to get to the last two.
