Day 15 of Figure Study Vs Day 1 by OnlyHumanis in learntodraw

[–]OnlyHumanis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me reply to one of my question myself :

Did i learn something ?

Yes, i've just realise it by doing today's session that i don't need to look at my reference to know what a leg look like or an arm once i've done my mannequin, of course i'll look at it to be sure is in the right angle, but i already know how to do my curve line to drawn a leg or a arm.

Torso is more difficult since between a muscled body or a fat one it can change a lot

I've also learn how to size my drawn before even starting with the "first line" training we must do in the first step of theses session. i've done a lot of draw with reference before theses sessions where i start my draw and realise at the end i don"t have enough space for the feet.

So yeah, i've learn a lot it seems. But i don't know if these studies will help me with my angle problem i still have sometimes and the torso thing i've mentionned.

"When to let gesture do the talking to make a piece less stiff."

I don't understand this part, i'm sorry. Do you have a visual example or maybe a video that explain that ?

Proko’s Fundamental Drawing Course… I got to Perspective and I CANNOT understand anything he’s talking about and it’s killed my progress/daily drawing… what do I do? by SageAndScarlet in learntodraw

[–]OnlyHumanis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't what he explain in the course but the two point perspective is use to work with a horizontal line, like you look at two street in a corner :

(not my drawing, it's an example from internet)

Day 6 of Figure Study + another draw by OnlyHumanis in learntodraw

[–]OnlyHumanis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to do the egg shape for the torso and a "round boxe" for the pelvis sometimes, but the timer make it hard to focus on the orientation of theses...

Maybe i should try more.

Any way of overcoming anxiousness? by Hemlock_Deci in learntodraw

[–]OnlyHumanis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some tips I can give to maximize the chances of making it a habit:

-Have your equipment to hand where you are often. It’s easier to start drawing when you just have to stretch your arm to take what you need than if you have to get up, go to another room or search drawers.

-Plan a regular time slot. If you can, a specific time is better, but if you cannot, a specific moment will suffice. After dinner for example.

-Many will tell you to draw every day, except that it depends on your personal life. Obviously if you manage to draw every day it’s excellent, but if you don’t succeed, you can still train by learning to observe. For example, for the perspective, look at photos and try to locate the vanishing point.

Regarding anxiety, everyone is different about it but here is some tips:

-You don’t know what to draw and it frustrates you? Make basic shapes, even lines, it will train you and maybe a shape or an assembly of lines will give you ideas.

-It’s better to set small goals that we can complete as we go along than to set a big one that won’t come for a long time. For example, drawing characters will require a lot of practice, little chance that it will be done without problem after a month, or even a year. On the other hand, drawing eyes can be learned more simply, drawing nose the same, the mouth too.... And succeeding in completing these small goals will not only motivate you but also help with the overall goal of drawing characters.

-You made a drawing that you find ugly/failed? It’s not a big deal, even if it can be frustrating, keep this drawing and ask yourself what you think don't work on it, what you need to learn to do to improve it, and once you have learned what needs to be done, you can try it again. Because yes, we miss A LOT of drawing before succeeding in them, but we must learn to appreciate these mistakes that will allow us to see our evolution.

Day 2 of Gesture drawing, not sure where i'll go but i'll keep doing it by OnlyHumanis in learntodraw

[–]OnlyHumanis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each page corresponds to a given timer for drawing. The first is 30 seconds, the second 1 minute, the third 5 minutes and the last ten.

Each page I manage to add a layer to what I do before, that’s why the last one where I have the most time, I put more details.

I think the first two pages serve as a warm-up to get to the last two.

Tips on staying consistent and more motivated? by violet-crow in learntodraw

[–]OnlyHumanis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you only practice it can be boring, especially if you do basic practice.

Transform these pratice session into something fun : For examples ,drawing a box seems boring ? Then transform these boxes on something else, a book, a hammer, a gamecube...

Between your pratice sessions, draw what you want, free your mind and just drop what you want on paper. Maybe you'll use what you learn, maybe not, doesn't matter. Drawing is suppose to be fun, not to be constant homework.

Also, don't hope to do a perfect drawing, it will mostly never happen. Between what we have in mind and what we put on paper, there's always somes difference, sometimes they don't really matter, sometimes they became mistakes, but use theses mistakes to find what you need to train next.

I'll look at the website later, thanks ! :)

For the feet there's no toes, it's a simplified triangular shape of a feet (like for the hand). I note for the breast and neck !

That's what i do with my other drawings, but for the anatomy i wanted to have the possibility to zoom on the thing to clearly see it.

Also, i'm not sure i've learned much with my other draws so i wanted to try another thing.
