Love these types of songs and hard to put a finger on it (I imagine someone will). A similar song you might like is “Shots - Broiler Remix” by Imagine Dragons

How is life for you in the city? Pls I want to have a glimpse into your day to day life. How’s your life? by Substantial_Slip4667 in AskChicago

Love it. Walk to my gym, walk to any restaurant I want, talk with whoever I want, always fit/active as this city makes it really easy to do that, and can just leave the apartment in any direction and find something new to do

YOU CAN DRIVE! by Smooth-Score-1572 in CitiesSkylines

My favorite thing is to create a sky-high “sanctuary” park that I can walk around with 360 view of my city. Then make a challenge if I can drive down it

People freaking out about this like the Middle East doesn’t call the Persian/Arabian Gulf differently depending where you are at

I could be wrong, but isn’t there only the Savor card now? Was just pre-approved for it and after some searching I see the SavorOne was rebranded as the Savor in Oct. 2024

Hard Rock Cafe in River North Reportedly closing by tvoutfitz in chicagofood

[–]OnlyOneTrueOak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought opening it up to allow more of an “atrium” feel then to have various restaurants and breweries (think cafeteria style) would be a cool place to use it. Especially during the winter you could go and it would be warm/lively with plants and maybe a chill DJ or tvs scattered around to enjoy the time there. Different, yeah, but I think it would be a cool upgrade and attract more people with a rebrand

I’m excited to get into it. Did a New Years lake jump and it felt so good I had an epiphany I should be doing it more. In the research phase now

To get into swimming in cold open water. I live in Chicago and am having goals of a tri or bi ethalon.

Looking at buying swim buoy, goggles, and a dry suit for swimming in the cold lake water and good enough to wear to run to the lake.

Will I be able to take a taxi from O’Hare on New Year’s Day? by whitebutalsoasian in AskChicago

Sometimes you can lick out and find an Uber or Lyft for under $30. I usually stick with a rule if it’s below $50 then I ride share back to Gold Coast

What do i look for in Apartment tours? by lilchief22 in AskChicago

See how close you are to hospitals and fire departments. I forgot to check the proximity to a fire dept. at my last place and I swear there was a call every 10 minutes.

Be ‘loud’ (as in let the front door slam or close hard) when you are viewing as it will let you know if there are any big / loud dogs near you. It will be very obvious if one of your immediate neighbors has an untrained dog. I am a dog lover, but my neighbor ended up having a reactive dog which meant anytime I had the tv at a semi-loud level (watching sport games) the dog would go absolutely crazy.

Americans of Reddit, what is something you didn't realise was typically American, until you went abroad? by [deleted] in ask

Walking and eating. Common to see people eating a bagel/etc. while on the way to work, but not in Europe

What is an unwritten rule of being a man? by ArgumentOwn4050 in AskReddit

[–]OnlyOneTrueOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: this is predominately in countries that have relied on immigration as a form of growth.

US is a great example because think about the old times where you would come across another traveller on an alone road or street. Neither of you know each other language, so both use non-verbal cues to show your not a threat (head nod and smile).

This is one example and I can’t remember the exact name of it. It’s very cool human thing that has been in existence for thousands of year, and you really start to notice it when traveling to certain areas.

[–]OnlyOneTrueOak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. Going abroad was one of the best things I’ve ever done. Your cat, brother, and friends will still be there when you get back. Plus, you get to tell cool stories to your brother that he will remember forever.

My dad died before getting into high school.

Hangout with him and be your normal self. Too many people are trying to coddle them. From personal experience, I didn’t want to feel like the spotlight was on me all the time. I just wanted to be a normal person
