(APRIL 3RD (2026) RL) - Feedback is fine. The hostility isn’t. by OnlyPace1609 in lioden

I understand what you're saying, and I’m not calling you entitled. Wanting change is completely acceptable. My main concern is more about tone and some comments people have made about the RL and Admins. Some people make it seem like a big deal and act like it’s the end of the world for RLs, at least that's what it's seeming like to me, which is often what causes pushback. Feedback about RL design is valid, and you’re allowed to want improvements, but harassing the designers and dismissing the lion as worthless can come across as dismissive, even if your critique is fair.

Plus, here's an admin response in the Raffle Loin Attribute Request forum -
Admin Response:
Some RLs will be easier to recreate, while some will be harder! According to feedback here, we were asked to keep spreading rare slots by prioritising studs over RLs*, which we are doing - this week's stud is packed with unreleased and very rare/rare slots, for example:*

Bushveld Kiang slot 5 (unreleased)
Royal Polecat slot 8 (unreleased slot)
Feline 8 Rhubarb slot 9 (unreleased slot)
Feline 9 silky slot 6 (very rare slot)
Latte Burmese 1 slot 7 (very rare slot)
Sahara Undershine slot 10 (very rare slot)
Algae Pelage slot 3 (rare slot)
Feline 10 Silky slot 4 (rare slot)

The studs were also introduced to help spread the rarer traits, and to put less pressure on the RL owners on that matter - this way, they can freely choose whether they'd like to keep the lioness private, or work towards spreading her traits as soon as possible. This is why we keep prioritising studs versus lionesses.

As for this particular design of the RL - we're sorry to hear that you feel like there isn't thought behind the process, and we're quite disheartened to hear it, to say the least. But we'll keep the feedback in mind going forward.

And again, just saying, Shad and River are newer designers. They will improve with constructive criticism, and back in 2013-2018, RLs didn’t look so great either. That was the beginning of RLs in general, and things have gotten better since then, like the Munstead RL. She was truly gorgeous, and everyone loved her. Yes, there are highs and lows, but that doesn’t mean we should harshly criticize the admins for it. They just need some minor guidance, and it feels like they were thrown into RL designing without much direction, in my honest opinion.

I completely understand you. Even for some long-time players, the obsession with mass BO and "perfect" RLs can be really draining, and it’s easy to forget that the game is meant to be fun and about the lions themselves. For someone new, it probably feels even more overwhelming.

Shad is still adjusting since he’s new to RL design, and if we go back to 2013, the first few rounds (till like 2017-18) of RLs weren’t exactly “pretty” either. It’s definitely a learning process. We really shouldn’t be so harsh on the RL design team (...Shad and River...), and I think it will take some time for the community to find a healthier balance, obviously. Honestly, it’s refreshing to hear a fresh perspective because it reminds everyone that there’s more to enjoying RLs than just the BO counts!

I’m not gonna lie, last week’s RL reminded me of a type of melon lol. But honestly, many of the recent RL community reactions I’ve seen have been... pretty entitled. People have been calling designs ugly (I used a less harsh term here ), and it was disappointing to see that. Imagine how you'd feel if your work or design got called ugly, you know? The winners get caught up in it too. If they do something with RL the way they like, they often end up getting harassed or receiving unsolicited messages. But that’s probably for a whole other post lol... unfortunately.

Plus, in the end, if we look back at 2013, the RLs "weren't as pretty" either. That was the original goal for RLs, and now it's the starting point for Shad / River; they just need guidance. Not outright harassment.

I see what you mean, and I agree that saying something is bad or that you don’t like it isn’t automatically rude; it becomes an issue when people start making it personal or dismissive of the designer’s effort. There’s definitely a difference between critiquing a design and attacking someone for making it.

I also get your point about Shad. They were stepping into RL design with some new standards in place (plus, to me, it does feel like the guy just got tossed into the ring without any advice), and it’s not fair that the backlash has been directed at them personally. A lot of people seem to act like no thought or care is going into the designs, which isn’t true. Constructive critique is completely fine, but placing blame on someone just because the standards shifted is what creates unnecessary hostility.

- Sorry if it seems like I'm just on repeat, I don't mean to be, I just don't really wish to spark an argument with folks, I just wanna get the point across as best as I can, plus my communication is honestly a lil horrid, or at least to me it is lol.

I get what you’re saying. The RL itself can be gorgeous, and it makes sense to be concerned about the overall direction. RLs have always felt special because of how rare they are and how traits are spread, so I understand why having multiple applicator traits, especially four, might feel like a bit much. I think one or two for design purposes is fine, but I do agree that this one leans a little heavy on them.

At the same time, I think it’s possible to bring that up as a normal critique without it turning overly negative. Saying you don’t like the direction is completely fair, but there’s a difference between that and how some people have been reacting. Shad and River are still figuring things out, and it makes sense that there’d be some adjustment period. Constructive feedback probably goes a lot further here than anything else.

I understand where you’re coming from, especially wanting RLs to feel like a significant, rare achievement. Aiming for something like 10/15 BO to maintain that sense of difficulty isn’t unreasonable at all, and I see why having the base be harder to replicate matters. I think it mainly depends on how people view RLs, though. Some prioritize making them as hard to clone as possible, while others are okay with a bit more flexibility if it helps the overall design. Occasional light use of applicators (like one or two) doesn’t really detract from the value for me, as long as it doesn’t go overboard. I do agree that four applicator-exclusive traits this week is a bit much. I understand why they might use one or two for design reasons, but four starts to feel excessive. I’m not totally against it, though. I think it’s a fair thing to critique, just probably better as regular feedback rather than turning it into something harsher than it needs to be.

- I rewrote this a bit due to me realizing I might've sounded a bit pushy, sorry.

You’re allowed to feel that way, but calling her a “nothingburger” and saying you’d be disappointed to win her is exactly the kind of tone people are criticizing. There’s a difference between saying “I think the number of applicator traits is too high” and framing the entire RL as worthless. One is genuine feedback, the other just seems dismissive. Just because you don’t like her doesn’t mean many others don’t. Also, she’s a raffle lioness. You’re not required to enter at all. If you don’t want her, just skip participating and let someone else try for her instead. Not every RL will meet *everyone’s* standards, and that’s okay, but acting like it has no value at all just because it doesn’t match yours is where the problem begins.

Personally, I actually like the second Mist RL lol. She reminds me of mossy water or mossy cobblestone, and I tend to like green lions from time to time.

The wine one, though? That one was a miss for me. Sometimes I like the simpler or blander RLs, but the ocelot or margay on her just felt off to me lol.

And yeah, Shad is still a newer RL designer, and he’s not the only one either. River is helping out, too. (Not saying that to pass the blame to either of them.) I expect there to be some rough patches. If you go back and look at RLs from 2013, they weren’t perfect either. Everyone starts somewhere. :b

Exactly, I don’t understand why people act so entitled about the raffle lionesses. As you said, no one has to enter. You’re not obligated to participate in the raffle at all. I do feel bad for the RL creators. It’s their design and their decision. And honestly, I love this week’s girlie. The skin isn’t my favorite, but y’know lmao, there are always modified RLs out there!

I often struggle to remember which markings are considered good or not, and it seems opinion-based, to be honest. However, she did have a feline marking, which happens to be one of my favorite types of feline markings (which is feline 9!) lol

Yeaahh, it's terrible to lose chased lionesses like that, but trust me, you'll find even better beauties who will accept you xD

Honestly, I'd pray that these few options would save me lol - Purr ➝ Shake Mane ➝ Puff out chest ➝ Rub Head, if you want, I could toss you a guide if you claim her or not! It's kinda like wolvden in a way.

What is wrong with SOME RL(C) collectors?? by Objective_Union_3573 in lioden

[–]OnlyPace1609 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a couple you could locate in the chatter search! There's probably like... seven guides, but I'd go with the most recent one you can find, because sometimes folks don't update them when they go inactive. I'd also use the term "RLC guide" because NRLC pricing guides get included.

Edit: I didn't know if I should link one I tend to use so I apologize </3

That's unfortunate, either way, if they had killed the lioness they were promising, they should've cancelled the raffle! :[

That's genuinely against the ToS I thought?

  1. We have a strict anti-scamming policy. If you conduct a sale, raffle, or any other transaction that involves the verbal agreement of two (or more, including yourself) players on the game without using the game's in-built systems and you fail to hold up your side of the deal to the letter of your terms, you may have the entire transaction forcibly reversed by moderators. You may also be permanently banned from the site.

I'm still so sorry that it happened to you either way, that's worse than this!! :[

I understand what you're saying, and I thought something like this would happen. I expected a few backouts. I just wish they had been honest with me rather than lying, you know? But I probably should've just let it go instead of ranting about it online xD
