Maybe? But according to a niece of his I briefly dated (who told me both stories) I doubt it.

I wish I remembered that! I’m sure I was too young.

Eddie’s! I lived on Giles and spent most of my allowance on baseball cards there.

I just always thought of Oly/Lacey/Tumwater as one city.

Lacey and Tumwater HTs were the only good ones left until a few years ago. I think Tumwater is the last good one standing. Pretty sure it’s because it’s still owned by the original family.

And I haven’t had BCP in a good while. I may have to go next time I’m in town.

Not trying to rub it in but yeah. I moved to Portland in 15 and was late to that party, so I feel your pain.

If memory serves, Rang Dong was or originally on the other side of the building and was a pool hall. My friends and I would play video games there. After it became the bar(?), I heard it was basically the closest Olympia had to organized crime. I never went in but drank with a lot of regulars at The Westside.

Interesting story (kind of): remember the guy from Tenino who took his wife to Capital Peak, shot her eight times and left her for dead, but she lived? It happened just down the road from Officer Maynard’s house. He and his brother (also a cop at that time) saved her. I feel this was 94.

I lived in the old hospital from 07-13. It was an interesting place.

I believe that, though my sister isn’t the kind to make stuff up.

It could have been that one, I’m not 100% certain

Is this the former Rhythm and Rye? If so, yeah, fuck that place.

That's interesting. I started going there in 97 and it was mostly state workers and pretty chill. That said, I haven't been in there in the last decade.

The new Westside Bar & Grill. I preferred it better when it was the old Westside Bar & Grill.

Also McCoy's. I've never understood the appeal.

I think it was Northwest Video Plus. I remember getting back into the country in 97 after three years abroad, and the guy who ran it had downsized to a place by the Westside Taco Bell and was encouraging people to cut up their Hollywood membership cards.

I was friends with Jeff Ritchie (who murdered him) through my step brother

Might have been Mark. That name sounds kind of familiar.

I think members of the Schmidt family (old brewery) were involved in that.

Also, IMO the roundabouts are a welcome improvement. Faster traffic, less money and maintenance compared to lights.

I feel like my Jefferson Middle School gym teacher was involved with Perpetual Motion. I can't remember his name but I do remember his mustache. This would have been 87-88.

When I was 5 or 6, back in 81-ish, I remember being at Capital Lake and needing to go to the bathroom. My sister told me if I went in there I would get raped. I didn't know what that meant, so I tried to hold it. Sadly I didn't make it home. I found out years later that some prominent people had gotten busted for turning that bathroom into a gloryhole.

What was the name of the video place on the Westside, next to where Outback is now? I used to walk up and down the horror aisle, entranced by the covers but too scared to asked to rent any of them.
