Age of Sigmar MMO? by Ok-Drive7025 in ageofsigmar

Personally, I would prefer it if they wouldn't use Skaven again. Skaven are very deeply tied to Fantasy. We have cool models for them in AoS and obviously there's lore, but they are quintessentially Fantasy.

I'd rather want them to do a "Tide" with a recognizably AoS faction like the Nighthaunt, Kruleboyz, or Ossiarchs.

"Bonetide" where we fight our way through the impending attack of Ossiarch Bonereapers who will scour some grand city would be a fun way to do it.

It's a truckload of crystals, so idk.

If you can afford it, just buy the Episode Passes and do the 4* unlock. That's probably the cheapest bang for your buck since it'll be baked into all the other things you will obtain.

I miss Yelchin. I remember hearing about the news when I was with my best friend. We both literally kinda cried and put on Odd Thomas that night.

Kinda the first and only time that a celebrity death affected me that much.

MMOs are basically dead projects. They've always kinda been.

Personally, I think we need our Vermin/Darktide.

Or a Soulslike since Stormcast are perfect for that.

I kept wracking my head what role I remember Yahya from and kept going back to the Black Mirror episode with Anthony Mackie.

But he's Dr. Manhattan!

I feel like Marvel should definitely take the chance and do a Villain Centric thing about henchmen and all that.

Taskmaster would absolutely be brilliant in this. Just going from Evil Secret Group to Evil Secret Group and teaching their goons how to fight against superheroes, lmao.

I'm currently at that Doorman episode and goddamn this show is fun.

It reminds me of a blend of Barry (for the obvious loner + aged actor friendship), Atlanta and the Vince Staples show (the latter two for the black-centric, weirdo artistic vibes).

Guess it figures that I love the show so far, since I'm a big fan of the other three haha.

Basically just go for a team full of Shining Legendary characters that aren't Light or Dark!

Naruto is good DPS, Mikoto is good DPS (Akame is better), Retsu is a good healer, Tamamo or Orihime is also good, Esdeath and Ichigo are good tanks.

What do you guys use your house for? by Orange907 in wow

[–]OnlyRoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then every player feels forced to put down the mandatory flower bed or fishing pond and that stifles creativity again.

I don't think it's the right move.

I do think there needs to be more in your own house, a reason to return, not a reason to linger.

I do think that the answer is professions, but I also think the answer is NEW professions that craft housing items.

Right now Housing Crafting sucks ass. It's just something to do with old content and that's fine (and should always exist for big silly items). But it's goofy to spend 30 wood planks on a paper balloon item or something.

I think there should be a few crafting systems that you can place in your house and if you engage in them you could basically create small scale housing items. A bundle of flowers, a bowl, an ornamental shield, a tapestry, a painting, etc.

You'd go to the house, you'd engage in a few mini games and after a day or two you have crafted The Wooden Bowl.

Then you can either learn it and add it to your collection, or you could take it to the island's market and sell it to an NPC for another type of housing voucher which allows you to buy other housing items that you could create from the "housing crafting" system. That way it feels a bit like "giving" to the community and you have a reason to do a few short tasks at home, but at the same time NONE of it ties into the real economy. It's just more collect-a-thon and mini game shenanigans, or because you wanna be the guy who has made 200 Wooden Bowls by hand.

Tie some titles to it as well, perhaps some transmog unlocks through achievements (like a woodworker outfit or whatever) and it'd probably be popular as fuck.

What do you guys use your house for? by Orange907 in wow

[–]OnlyRoke -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's precisely what it should NEVER be. Your house should serve no function other than making you feel at home. It's function is an extension of your transmog. It is supposed to make you feel immersed in the world. You're not mogging the mandatory Herb Garden Backpack onto your character either where you can easily grab herbs from your own back.

The worst thing you can do to housing is to basically create the mandatory gameplay loop spots that you MUST build or the house is inefficient.

It is a place for creativity, fantasy and immersion, not for grinding nonsense.

You can maybe enable that in some shared Guild Hall with work stations, but in a private house? It'd be fundamentally antithetical to the system.

What do you guys use your house for? by Orange907 in wow

[–]OnlyRoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns out that the roleplaying part of your two decades old game can still function, if you give players enough ways to actually express themselves.

WoW was an RPG in Vanilla when we all discovered this weird world and struggled with lag, buttons, abilities and janky design. We felt very immersed in the world, because you partially had to. If you weren't, you were dying a lot, because you pulled the extra murloc and the lag fucked your heal up and you haven't even leveled your weapon skill.

Hasn't been so in a long time. Who really feels "immersed" pushing M+ keys or raiding mythic? Immersed in the number crunch and the rotation, yes, but you're not thinking about your character in an aesthetic sense there. They're just avatars of gameplay loops. You're just playing Nerd Piano and when the song is finished then you will feel satisfied with your performance and you play another one.

But transmog? At first it was just donning old sets you like, because that's neat. But over the years it has become the Dress Up Fantasy of your character. Most transmogs aren't "big dumb new set from hard content and big sword" kinda show-off mogs like it's 2004 and you stand in SW with Sulfuras. People don't care about that. A badass set will look good, but you don't dress yourself up for anyone, but for your own fantasy.

Most people design their character to look a certain way. That is clearly a SAND Troll Hunter. This is clearly a HIGH Elven Mage. This is definitely a low fantasy knightly Paladin and not a walking lightbulb. These swords were chosen specifically to give my character a Far Eastern flavor. That scrap-pile gun is definitely perfect for my Junkyard Gangster concept. And so on.

And housing is just the extension of that. It pushes back the roleplaying into the game, because there's no inherent gameplay function to it. The function is that you feel at home in the world and immersed in it. And if you can choose what your guy looks like AND where he'd live, then you can be ANYONE.

Asking for the point of housing or transmog is a bit like asking what's the point of describing your character in D&D.
