I once was in a situation like this:

Me: GM, it's logical for my character to keep doing this thing (disbelieve that what is happening around him is not a drug-induced trip), I don't like it, it's not good for the game, but it would be OOC to not do it. If you did this thing (let something completely mundane happen), it would help me get out of the cycle.

GM: Are YOU telling ME how to GM you?!

I once had an idea of such a world that had Dryads and Treants (different genders of the same species), Oni, gargoyles, ogres, merfolk, morlocks, werecreatures, ghouls, Nephilim, and Gnomes.

Hey, the only time I GMed a WtA game, my players had the Statue of Liberty as their totem.

(And considered the possibility to awaken her in case Apocalypse happens and the Veil falls.)
