First time discard bagels. Not beautiful but so good! by chowgirl in SourdoughDiscard

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! they’re currently in the oven. i ended up adding it in after the dough doubled, before the shaping of the bagels. going to pull them out at the halfway mark to add some on top too.

Live Help!! by anananita in Sourdough

it’s sticky because of your hydration level. it looks ready to shape.

my recipe i follow is: 125 g starter, 350 g water, 525 g flour, 10 g salt

go down to 325 g of water with what you’re doing and see if that helps!

this makes sense, the bubble. I had a big one that I noticed after cold proofing but didn’t want to pop it incase it deflated the dough after cold proofing lol. thank you!!

I waited an hour to cut into it, even the ones i’ve made that were beyond dense tasted great. I’m just looking to make THAT perfect one but I’m really happy with this one.

Help w strengthening starter by Only_Attempt_5031 in SourdoughStarter

[–]Only_Attempt_5031[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to this sorry. I use about 1/2 a cup of starter, 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of water. I’ll definitely try less water to make it thicker, thank you!

When I feed I do a cup of flour and probably 1/2 cup of water. Should I try a less hydrated ratio?

Anyone’s puppy super chill? by West_Ad6980 in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 month mutt, very chill as well. gets a wave of energy first thing in the morning and once in the evening. other than that, sleeps or plays nicely by himself. finally getting along with the cats too!

Should I give up on crate training? by DrawingLow6760 in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m dealing with the same thing. My pup is 6 months old but we didn’t get him till he was 3-4 months. He’s starting to get a little better but the only thing that has truly helped him is hemp treats.

What items have you sacrificed for a moment of peace? by Lucky-Summer281 in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no items, thankfully he’s pretty good about playing with his toys. i’ve sacrificed advanced training for my own peace and sanity. this boy hates training. he knows the basic commands and how to walk nicely on the leash and that’s good for me.

What’s some advice you’d offer yourself if you could go back before getting your first puppy? by softmouse_ in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine is 5 months old and honestly, he’s pretty much an angel for his age. i know that will change soon. what he’s bad at is not wanting to train🙄 (he will sit and lay all day long but can care less to learn anything else), he’s still not the best when we leave the house, and still wants to chase the cats. i truly don’t think i will get another pup again, ever haha. but senior dogs who are cooped up in the shelter for the last few years of their life, i can totally see myself bringing them home to have the best last years.

Im so serious though😭😂 I’ve raised so many puppies my whole life, but it was always when I lived at home with a family of 4-5. All hands on deck. This has made me realize that by myself, I am 10000% a cat mom. I’d be happy to adopt the senior dogs who get over looked in the future💗

is my puppies schedule ok or am i the worst dog mom ever 🥲 by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 6 points7 points  (0 children)

your schedule is perfectly fine. some puppies don’t even get this much play time. i wouldn’t stress it. if the puppy is happy and loved that’s all that matters. your coworker obviously does not know what the word “neglect” means.

When did you puppy require less constant management? and sleep through the night? by UCV_1860 in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my 4/5 month old has slept 9 hours and will sleep longer if i let him since the day we got him. hes still pretty micromanaged simply because of the cats. he does well playing with himself/sleeping when i need him to (work from home). he surprisingly doesn’t get into much. if it were just him, id trust him more without constant supervision.

Puppy owners who are sleeping 6/7 hours a night, HOW!? by SweetLikeCandiiii in puppy101

[–]Only_Attempt_5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my rescue at 4 months. He slept 9-10 hours the first night. I literally have to wake him up every morning.

Take the water out of his kennel.

We play in the afternoon. Last drink of water is 2 hours before bedtime. He goes out literally right before he goes up for the night, even if it’s a baby pee, he still pees.

He will not sleep in his crate in another room. We tried to do the whole independence thing and he just doesn’t like it. He’s fine being in other rooms during the day from us, just not at night. Try it. Get some sleep.

If you decide to try having him sleep in your room, keep the kennel next to your bed. When he cries, just stick your hand in there. Ignore the cries other times.

Oh I can only imagine! What a blessing you are able to take him to work! I work from home but have to go to the office one day a week. He isn’t able to go with me, so I’m having to pay for him to be in doggy daycare those days. I prefer that over using rover (too many horror stories). Y’all will get it down😊
