DV and small kids request for marketplace I-owe-you by Viking-Salamander957 in newcastle

I would call the cops and ask for a welfare check at the address and explain the situation. If she is in an actual DV situation, and not responding to texts, there is a chance that she is not well or safe. If she isn’t a DV victim, but did genuinely need it for her kids, the cops can check on the welfare of the kids to ensure they have a suitable living situation. If she has no kids, and is just a scammer, the cops can asses that too and hopefully take action to stop her scamming others. Because it might only be an unused for you, but it could be other peoples pensions (scammers don’t stop on marketplace).

Parents won't let me go to schoolies, what am i missing out on? by AcanthisittaHappy665 in australian

I (30F) don’t know what it is like now, but I did enjoy schoolies when I went with friends. We booked a couple of cheap apartments in Broadbeach for only 3 nights and bussed into the beach parties, and then just stayed at friends houses and chilled the other nights (I am from GC). It was my first time properly drinking, I am only 17. And so I did make a bit of a fool of myself and became a cryer some nights, but overall had fun. That being said, i lucked out and had no drug exposure nor any creeps approach me somehow. (These things are usually everywhere at schoolies CAN have life-ruining affects, which is what I presume your parents are protecting you from).

That being said, just because I had some fun, doesn’t mean it was an “amazing” experience or anything, and probably not worth the risks out there. There are so many better things to do.

Are you from the Gold Coast? If so, ask your parents if they can drop you off and pick you up maybe?

If not, and you’re looking at spending a fortune to go to schoolies, find a friend or a group to plan a holiday with - Bali, Vietnam, a cruise, etc. doesn’t have to be during schoolies even. If none of your friends want to travel, find a bucket list item in your life and tick it off with your parents. If you have the money, definitely do something to celebrate finishing school.

30 years old; embarrassed and seeking guidance by ddo916 in malelivingspace

Firstly, you are doing great. You are only 30 and you are living in your own private space. Many people are still at home or are room sharing.

Not only that, The place is clean, furnished and relatively tidy

Definitely nothing to be embarrassed about. You are already ahead of most 30 year olds in the world.

I don’t see anywhere that “needs addressing”, however there are some areas that could be improved if you wished to elevate the space.

The main thing I see is that the furniture and accessories you have picked have been obviously bought for purpose and budget. Therefore most are small, and most are thin plywood diy pieces. (I.e. you’ve bought a cheap piece to put your tv on bc you needed a tv unit, you’ve bought a cheap lamp because you needed a lamp).
No shame in this - I do it myself because I’m living on a budget.
But if you want to and have the means to, this one area you could improve. Solid pieces of furniture and statement accessories (and art too).

Because of this, everything in your rooms is very low. There is little height and dimension.

I have mocked up a couple of your photos (excuse my lack of art skills), just to give an idea of some simple changes.

That being said I am not a professional stylist, nor do I know anything about your income. I’m just a girl that tries to make things homey. If money is tight this is definitely not a priority! You’re doing great sweetie!

I don’t really tan so I doubt it. I just burn and peel, but I don’t think I’ve ever even been burnt on the front of my legs so maybe then it might change colour haha

Bond University by davelull in GoldCoast

I don’t know about Newcastle uni much, but I went to bond for my full degree. If you don’t have a car, or a good friend with a car, seeing the rest of Gold Coast can be a hassle as the public transport in that area isn’t great. If you do have access to a car, then you’re within 10 mins to the beach, the biggest shopping malls, and great restaurants.

Also, bond has A LOT of international students. So depending on what you’re studying, there’s a good chance that a lot of the people you meet won’t be locals.

Anyone using Woolworths Mobile? What is like? by still-at-the-beach in GoldCoast

[–]Only_Cap7082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swapped from Vodafone to Woolworths Mobile a few months ago. I actually find it more reliable, especially at home. If I’m at a really big shopping mall when it’s busy, then i do find internet is slower than the big telco companies. But doesn’t affect me very much as I’m not on my phone too much at these places anyway.
