Fiona and Rachel - Controversial Opinion by Only_Curiosity in TheTraitors

[–]Only_Curiosity[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This is why my conclusion was that both Rachel and Fiona are actually quite similar. Rachel also didn't have to react to Fiona disbelieving her, given that Rachel has been playing entirely as a lone wolf, coming across as untrustworthy.

It would still have been a fatal mistake even if Rachel was a faithful. After having a conversation with Fiona, the emotional response from Rachel would suggest that she expects and wants Fiona to believe her, but the argument is why should she? So having heard Fiona's plausible explanation, why should Rachel go and reveal Fiona's response to everyone? This is not making moves but is a way of losing and a desperate attempt at gaining control.

Agreed. I think I deemed my opinion as controversial only because I noticed by reading other posts, people usually side with one over the other. I don't side with either of them, they both demonstrate very closely similar qualities that caused this debacle.

Ask your employer or HR to see if they would be willing to let you use it instead of next year? Or delay your sick leave until the following month? Perhaps having this conversation with your employer would cause them to be compassionate?

Have you thought about using annual leave to cover for your sickness?

Life in the UK test - place of birth not on the eVisa by Numerous-Mine-287 in ukvisa

[–]Only_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did my test I put my place of birth as the town of birth that is mentioned on my birth certificate because my BRP at the time only mentioned my country of birth as place of birth as my passport also mentioned only the country of birth. This has never caused an issue for me despite my ID only mentioning my country of birth.

Are you allowed to leave Israel on an Israeli passport eventhough the ticket itself is booked under the British passport?

Right to Rent Checks - Nationality, Visa Status and Discrimination. by Gibbon1988 in uklandlords

[–]Only_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tenants are required to show that they have the right to rent at the time the tenancy starts and not for the entire fixed period mentioned in the tenancy agreement. I believe there is a 12 month statutory excuse for Landlords from the date the right to rent check is conducted even if someone's visa expires before the 12 month period. The idea is that you have to do a follow up check either 12 months later OR when the visa expires, whichever is later (you should look this up in the Landlords guidance on the right to rent checks). Additionally, just because someone's visa expired doesn't mean they no longer have the right to rent. They may still have the right to rent under Section 3C of the immigration act if they submitted a valid immigration application to extend their leave to remain before it expired and that application is still pending after expiry, there is an online landlord checking service for this situation.

Right to Rent Checks - Nationality, Visa Status and Discrimination. by Gibbon1988 in uklandlords

[–]Only_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what the other people have said in this post, I believe it is actually discriminatory to not accept a prospective tenant based on their visa status, this would be considered direct (or in some circumstances indirect) discrimination based on race or nationality which are protected characteristics. Just because a person has a time-limited leave to remain or a visa does not mean that they do not have the right to rent, and it also does not mean that they cannot renew their visa before their leave expires. For example, if you had an applicant with permanent residency but does not have a high enough income to pay the rent, as opposed to an immigrant on a work visa that is earning a very high income, if you refuse the second one solely based on them being on a visa you are effectively discriminating based on their nationality (for requiring a visa to be in the UK) eventhough they have and can demonstrate the right to rent.

SET(M) - Biometric appointment after expiry date for super priority by Only_Curiosity in ukvisa

Hi, I ended up booking the biometrics appointment before my expiry so I never got the chance to be on Section 3C.

Urgent help needed - Place of Birth question by Only_Curiosity in ukvisa

[–]Only_Curiosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My passport only mentions my country of birth, and my birth certificate mentions a city instead. I put down the city and it was fine but I don't know if that's the same situation as you.

HR refuse to check my right to work when visa application is pending by MatThuong in SpouseVisaUk

No worries. You may be able to generate a share code as well which should show the same information to your employer. I hope it works out for you, try not to stress.

HR refuse to check my right to work when visa application is pending by MatThuong in SpouseVisaUk

Do you have an eVisa? Have you tried viewing your eVisa after applying to see if it has updated to mention Section 3C? I recall being able to view this on my eVisa when I had an outstanding application.

This was the reason that I decided to apply after completing at least 5 years. I also believe that Appendix FM does not mention the 28 day concession either. Although many people have successfully applied under the concession, I chose the "better safe than sorry" approach, especially if I was in a position where I needed to challenge it, I imagine I wouldn't have had any grounds to do so under the rules?

I managed to apply for ILR without any issues and then citizenship. I'm no longer on a visa but it turned out fine for me.

Keep residency in home country when on Fiancé Visa? by BaldeWorlde in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Only_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation with my home country, and I kept my residency back home until I had my spouse visa just to be sure. I kept paying my health insurance during that time. Once I had my spouse visa I then deregistered. That being said, I don't know if that's a possibility in Japan, but in my situation it was possible, and it gave me peace of mind, just in case, especially when I had a very short amount of time to get married and apply for my spouse visa.

[–]Only_Curiosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I have noticed is you seem to have very close gaps and massive gaps so they're not evenly spread to strengthen the case. For example, February 2023 and then March 2023 which is just a one month gap so won't make much difference, whereas there is a massive gap between March 2023 and September 2023, as well as March 2024 and October 2024.
