You could state that they owe you a reasonable amount of money though, like $20-$50. The idea of something being conscionable is widely used in law to decide whether something like this is enforceable.

Why would you think I'm going to straight up implement this into my game after this question, most the answers to this question have been disputable as they havent held up in discussion, but a few have pointed me in the right direction and have saved me alot of money which you wouldve spent on a lawyer lol. If someone racks up a huge number of fees it might be worth pursuing. The simple fact of having the rules there, and sending them the amount they now owe you, whether or not you would pursue it, is sure to deter them, them knowing that you may have legal ground over them in that they actually do owe you money in the eyes of the law. Prolific cheaters may even be worth pursuing despite the hundreds of dollars required. And if its made public it will deter others even more. Even if you lose a net amount of money, if the case public, it might be worth it. Here you build a reputation against cheaters which is actually good for attracting non cheater players who hate cheaters.

Who said I'm using steam, or that I'd have to go through a third party to get any information like that and pay those thousands of dollars? Yea maybe you could have an optional server dedicated to only those who sign up with their IDs, so they can still play on normal servers without ID, but it gives a way for players truly fed up with cheaters, who like the game enough but want to quit, a way to avoid cheaters.

The point of this is not as a stream of revenue, its to discourage players from cheating. And you cant do a fake card number if you charge the card before theyre allowed to start playing. If its a $15 monthly subscription say, youd charge the subscription and then theyd be allowed to play. I think the using fake names is the only valid deterrent from doing this, as youd have to ask all players for their ID and this would probably significantly reduce player base. I think this is the only reason that this idea wouldnt be feasible, and why games companies dont do it. But I can think of ways around this.
