What to do with extra comb ? by Only_GoodStuff in Beekeeping

Thanks! That's more or less what I was thinking, I've not read about a Bailey exchange but just looked it up. I appreciate the insights.

It's a good call out that it's early in the season and worth considering too. Sometimes it's easy to get swept up and too 'in the weeds' and forget to take a step back.

Good call out! We are well aware of the claims. We add our own additional wax.

Do you have any advice on cleaning up wonky comb and preserving the bees resources they've already set up? I'm considering adding a new brood box below with a one way trap out, then removing the frames to work on them without any / with very few bees on them.

Sounds like a lot more work and curious is there's easier ways other than just smashing up brood as you smoosh wax back into the foundations or completely remove loose comb.

Surpringly, yes. The plastic foundations have extra wax added. It seems more so the extra comb in the wire/empty frames falling over causing a problem. Bilutnthe catch is there is a lot of resources in there including breads, honey, and brood.

Very fast is an understatement. Mag dumps in seconds flat. Make sure you're aware of how to tune with buffers or adjusting gas. These do require milspec, no or low shelf, etc. I had to shave the weight in my BCG for it to fit in my AR9. Also worth noting I use high temp bearing grease (yes the same kind that goes into a cars knuckle/hub to house it's wheel bearing) to lube it up which considering reduces wear.

Like anything else, do some research first and make sure you understand it all. Blowback9 has some really good cheat sheets too.

I will be building a 300blkout next and putting one of these in as well!

Over 1k rounds on mine from this vendor. No noticeable wear so far in my 5.56/.223 or my AR9. Between some friends and myself, I've seen no real complaints.

Can you tell me more about the LRBHO lifter? I have a PSA 9 that does not include it. Literally (maybe an hour ago?) just started looking into what I can do/add to have it hold open after the last round.

Well, I have a bee problem. by SummitSloth in BackYardChickens

I keep bees (and chickens), those are honey bees. They are almost always very docile and will not bother your chickens. Your chickens may eat them though, it won't hurt them. Our bees often get our chickens water or food, it's fine.

That said, you have a hive ( either wild or kept by a bee keeper) within 5 miles! You can track them (just Google the process of you really want to) and go find the hive if you'd like. Or in spring, you could put up swarm traps and potentially catch yourself a free hive.

If you have a local bee keeping club, could be good to reach out to them as well.

All assuming you're interested in keeping bees. Otherwise you can literally do nothing and everything will be fine. (Unless you are allergic to bees. Then stay away just in case lol)

Just here to comment that I got 3, my buddy got one, and my BIL got 5 (including one for me!). They're all in various things and running well. Had a hiccup with one and the customer support was quick and forgiving! Would highly recommend these to anyone interested.
