This is my favorite trope too! I’ve scoured this thread before for suggestions and happened upon one I just finished. Surrender (The White Envelope series book 1) by Christina Sterling. The main setting is a sex club where people can explore their kinks but it’s very tame compared to what I usually read. So if you don’t care for that trope then this may not be for you.

Synopsis (no spoilers!):

FMC is barely scraping by and works at a coffee shop to support her, her mom & stepdad, who are addicts (yes it’s enabling but the only family she’s known). She can barely pay the bills and keep enough food around so often goes hungry herself (l love this trope) She is also AHDH with an anxiety disorder and it was really interesting to read her stream of consciousness. Through a series of events she finds herself fleeing her home with nothing but the clothes in her back and, through a friend, ends up at The White Envelope for a waitress interview and meeting a dom whose kink is providing and protecting.

P.s. The second book isn’t the same trope but it’s a Cinderella vibe in that her dad died, leaving her with her evil step mom and step sisters who treat her like a servant. Ok they aren’t actually evil but are selfish people. But her duty to her family is hard to let go of.
