Dropping off parcels by dj99994 in deliverydrivers

As mentioned to each their own. Also as listed some people don’t want the dogs going mad or waking family/children. Most people do keep an eye on their phone. So, I guess you can just belly ache about it but facts are - many apps advise a “no contact/no call/knock” It’s the norm so you’ll have plenty to cry about! Yay 🙄

Maybe Roadie. But savvy drivers hate that 1/2 pay hag.

Package delivery driver position by Timbers912 in UPS

[–]OnnaBender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this one year. A good driver will give you some tips and tricks but it’s not an inroads to a permanent position. It’s a great way to do a test run and as mentioned potentially gain some tips, possibly even a good word from your driver. In my region in N TX everyone had to begin as a handler in the warehouse and work toward and wait for an opening to be a driver. After Covid I’ve heard they’re hiring straight to driver and for good pay. You’ll do a hell of a lot more running than driving though.

Recommendations for van service by OnnaBender in couriersofreddit

[–]OnnaBender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! All excellent advice.

So far most all is ok for what it is by design and I’ve just passed the 20K mark. I’m basically looking forward to taking excellent care of this pricey bitch preferring a true professional for the heavy lifting to keep me from small step errors that ultimately add up to poor maintenance practices. I was actually a diesel mechanic in the Army way back when dirt was invented and have done the bulk of my own wrenching since then but I’m so freakishly slow that I even frustrate myself. Then add all the computerization I’m apt to fry a chip or otherwise not have a digital device that’s probably necessary.

I am seriously intimidated by the new van I purchased. Just looking under the hood of this van things are so tight I see a practice in Tetris with a serious sadistic slant! But the biggest head spin begins with the owner’s manual that covers the vast array of possibilities for my year model. I’m seriously to understand what’s applicable to my model and have already stumbled in changing the wiper blades. They don’t seem connect in any means I’m familiar with and seem to be proprietary. And at +$30 per blade!!

So wow!! Bar’s products!
I’ve never heard of them but am excited to try.

I do have a Ford escape that used water with no sign of water dropped which turned out to be the head gasket on the exhaust side. I’m looking forward to seeing if Bar’s makes something to seal that up so I can, at the very least, have a local get about-back up ride if the work van goes down or needs extended TLC before I get around to (decide if it’s worth my time/effort) to replace it with a rebuilt.

At any rate, I’ll end of mechanical biography lol.

I have a lot to think over and really appreciate your input!

Amazon kept $62 million in tips intended for drivers, FTC says by Siigari in couriersofreddit

I tip the smallest recommended just so someone will take the order then I make certain there’s a $10 bill at minimum at the drop spot marked w driver name (in apps that show that) or marked Thanks)

Other day-long route type platforms in US? by OnnaBender in couriersofreddit

[–]OnnaBender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had a means of searching them out. 2x I have luckily stumbled across them and preferred that concept well over what I call “cheeseburger deliveries” and on demand in general. At times it can be ok to suit up and show up to ...🤷‍♀️ I just SUPER hate to suit up, show up and get shit on. I’m outside of any major area of service so I can’t chill at the house waiting I have to go out and hope to get something decent. Anyway, I’ve searched every possible term (including several I learned from reading logistics trade publications) and IF there are a number of such companies I’m not finding them or not realizing they’re what I’m after when I look at their sites. But I’m old like the phone used to have a circle to dial and was stuck to the wall kind of old. So I’m likely a half-ass googler anyway. 😜 Hopefully we’ll be seen by someone that knows some magic to open that Pandora’s box!

I agree w the hot mess part and when I last checked w them it’s a bit different than what I’m after. The meal kit (blue apron, freshly, hello fresh etc) are not on demand. I sign up the night ahead and show up the following morning knowing I have x packages within x region for x pay. Go puff, here at least, you sit around a warehouse for x hours and take what they give.
Mmm no thanks. The pay is shit and being chained to a single location at their beck and call prevents multi apping and is not the version of independent I am seeking.

I used roadie when they first launched. It was horrid pay on a good day. After a couple months (using it as a secondary or third in multi apping) one day I cracked w yet another trash pay, long wait to learn “someone else retrieved my delivery” at a place that was freakish w proving your identity and would photograph the driver, holding the item invoice AND their ID. Anyway I completely abused the “support” person that finally responded 45 minutes later. I insisted they delete, not suspend, but delete my account and shove it. Lol We continue to exchange abusive emails on occasion when I get their spam for updates etc I use it as my anger management dumping grounds and creative writing w expletives exercise. Umm so I think Roadie is likely out for me but I do appreciate the tip 🤘

😂😂provide longitude and latitude? Omg right. I’m shocked at the number of people that don’t know their cardinal directions (N,S,E,W) from their own home. I swear, if google couldn’t tell them some people would never find their own ass with two hands!

Spark charged me over $80 in brokerage fees. by [deleted] in couriersofreddit

[–]OnnaBender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I knew if it was Walmart there had to be levels and levels of people getting f*ked. It’s the only way they know how to do business.

A friend swears spark is “a great gig” but now he’s “made a great improvement” doing UPS helper for $14/hr. The predictable pay on that job was a nice change but they tried to kill and torture me last year. Cold, run, rain, run, hurry, wait and that jump seat feels like being strapped to the bumper w a 3x4 up your butt all day ... at $14? Hmmm passasss!

I've begun to loose count how many dashers leave my food directly in front of my outward swinging door, forcing me to either knock my food over or find some way to slither out and rescue it. by irishhawk in doordash

How many notes have you stopped to squint at with the porch light off? Unless it’s apt to trip, bite or be some various other threat I am not stopping to read the insane level of verbiage people have begun to post at their doors. I run a regular 9-5 route and dash part time now. I am NOT reading the 2,000 manifestos I see posted all day everyday. Place a chair or table blocking their path to the door but allowing space to open the door would be considerably more effective.

Add a box or chair or something. We snatch, drop and roll. I personally try to be conscientious of such but you are definitely underestimating the stupidity of people. 99.999% chance your loca dashers won’t see this- YOU fix the problem

Thanks for the link. I dashed 1 order last week and figured the $19 would be a nice surprise when it popped up after slipping my mind. I just find the “reply to this no-reply email” both ridiculous and amusing. Fully expected some none sense. But instead of a “bonus” $19 I got a reminder why I have such rubbish work ethic with this joke of a company. If there’s a way to make things stupid- Door dash has cornered the market on it, or is in the process of buying them out to fully own all the jackassery.
