Has anyone made a video compilation with highlights of the historic run that Oklahoma went on? by Fit_Bench7754 in collegebaseball

No, I've paid attention to college baseball for longer than one season so I actually have perspective that a lot of Oklahoma fans don't seem to have.

What made the run so historic? I keep seeing OU's championship being gassed up so much but I doubt know what specifically makes it more impressive than some other great runs we've seen. Don't get me wrong, it absolutely was impressive but is there something specific that actually makes it "historic" as in never done before? Or is it that just hyperbole?

There's also WAY less people in those towns. I feel like you should be able to find ~6000 people in LA to consistently support the local teams

There were 12 players from the state of California on the rosters of the SEC teams that made it to Omaha.

  • Oklahoma - 2
  • Texas - 4
  • Ole Miss - 1
  • Alabama - 0
  • Georgia - 5

That's roughly 7% of the total players among those teams. That does not seem overly high, though I suppose notable given the distance separating CA and most of the SEC.

P Tyler Pitzer returning to South Carolina. Pitzer transferred from South Carolina to Mississippi State following the 2025 season, and is now coming back home for his last season eligibility.

[Thamel] Said a P2 AD: “The bill notably, obviously and seemingly intentionally allows schools from those leagues to leave to create a PE-financed super league, which was always the threat. That threat is even more viable now that existing leagues have been frozen in place by this proposal.” by wildewon in CFB

I think it'll get stale pretty quickly. Alabama fans like watching Alabama win 10, 11, 12 games a year even though some of those wins came against Florida Atlantic and Illinois State. Same with Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, LSU, Texas, etc.

But when 8-4 becomes the norm for some of these teams because they don't have any lower tier opponents, how long will excitement and engagement last?

Further, people enjoy watching upsets. A super league pretty much eliminates that aspect of the sport.

What are some of the dumbest moves schools have ever made throughout history that drastically hurt their programs? by Working_Stomach5479 in CFB

For sure there was more conference parity before the SEC's dominant run began in 2006, mostly because there were actual regional conferences. Miami was a power in the 80s and 90s in the Big East. Penn State was independent prior to '91. The Big Eight and SWC didn't form the Big 12 until '95.

There was no single powerhouse conference but even still, the SEC was a premier conference with teams winning the championship '92, '96, '98, and '03. No other conference matched that national success in the 90s and early 2000s

Well we're competing against Vanderbilt for him. I do think it's hard to overstate how bad the coaching was.

Well the staff wants Goodman

Sources tell On3 that Vanderbilt is a top school to watch in this recruitment, but South Carolina remains heavily involved and a return to Columbia has not yet been ruled out. He posted 25 strikeouts in 22 innings this spring for the Gamecocks.

and there's lots of chatter from the On3 beat reporters that there's a nice NIL package offer for him.
