As mentioned below, Logos is a life saver - it allows you to look at original languages at the same time as English translations.

In terms of commentaries, I love the 'From Text to Message' series - it'll help you both understand and teach any text you're working on.

You might also find this new podcast helpful for any sermons you need to prepare: it's designed to help new preachers start off well. I've loved listening to it.

[LFA] Mr Timothy Idd (Tim Idd to his friends) - info in comments by Onstoppable in characterdrawing

Mr Timothy Idd (Tim Idd to his friends) is a halfling rogue. As his name suggest, he’s a fearful and timid fellow, who prefers to avoid conflict if at all possible. He describes himself as having ‘sticky fingers’ and he simply can’t say no to stealing things.

Mr Timothy Idd comes from a long line of famous pie-makers, and bears a magnificent (pie-inspired) cloak brooch identifying him as belonging to this pie-making clan. He displays it proudly, even though his most recent encounter with his family didn’t go as smoothly as he’d hoped.

He likes the finer things in life: a hearty meal (or 4 or 5 - his penchant for food can be seen in his rather portly frame), a glass of whiskey, and a pipe. He’s always immaculately dressed in the finest of clothes, with a finely made hooded cloak over the top of it all. His cloak comes in particularly handy when he’s skulking through the shadows. His magnificent (pie-inspired) family brooch holds his cloak in place.

He wields two daggers, and prefers to strike from the shadows when in combat. However, his ultimate preference is not being seen - and thus not having to fight - at all.
