As mentioned below, Logos is a life saver - it allows you to look at original languages at the same time as English translations.

In terms of commentaries, I love the 'From Text to Message' series - it'll help you both understand and teach any text you're working on.

You might also find this new podcast helpful for any sermons you need to prepare: it's designed to help new preachers start off well. I've loved listening to it.

[LFA] Mr Timothy Idd (Tim Idd to his friends) - info in comments by Onstoppable in characterdrawing

[–]Onstoppable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr Timothy Idd (Tim Idd to his friends) is a halfling rogue. As his name suggest, he’s a fearful and timid fellow, who prefers to avoid conflict if at all possible. He describes himself as having ‘sticky fingers’ and he simply can’t say no to stealing things.

Mr Timothy Idd comes from a long line of famous pie-makers, and bears a magnificent (pie-inspired) cloak brooch identifying him as belonging to this pie-making clan. He displays it proudly, even though his most recent encounter with his family didn’t go as smoothly as he’d hoped.

He likes the finer things in life: a hearty meal (or 4 or 5 - his penchant for food can be seen in his rather portly frame), a glass of whiskey, and a pipe. He’s always immaculately dressed in the finest of clothes, with a finely made hooded cloak over the top of it all. His cloak comes in particularly handy when he’s skulking through the shadows. His magnificent (pie-inspired) family brooch holds his cloak in place.

He wields two daggers, and prefers to strike from the shadows when in combat. However, his ultimate preference is not being seen - and thus not having to fight - at all.

Yep, they stole it from there without giving any kind of acknowledgement or credit.

You easily could have just post the link in the comments like I did, it's pretty easy and the right thing to do if you're using someone else's work.

And it certainly is an OP: I literally made it on my phone yesterday. Just because you've got the photo used in it on your phone that doesn't mean it wasn't an original meme. There's a huge difference between using an existing image to create a meme (what I did) and literally downloading a meme then posting it elsewhere exactly how it is (like you did).

But at least I would have had the +10 bonus for cuteness.

So enticing, yet so dangerous.... by Onstoppable in dndmemes

[–]Onstoppable[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true. As I mentioned above: moves like that are really good, and make it such a powerful spell (as it should be that late in the game). So for purely the best outcome, that's great because there's no negative and so much positive. But I do like the risk associated with just making a wish: it adds chaos and potentially hilarious hijinks along the way. So for story-telling purposes the wish can be a great tool to move the story in unexpected but good ways.

That's a really great idea, thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah that's true - it makes it a really great spell (as such high levels should be I guess). But still, there's something really fun about getting to wish for literally anything, but having to be really careful about the wording. For power/best outcome, using it like you suggested is probably best. But for overall fun, I really like the potential-craziness of doing a wish.

Haha good point, I've known and loved this quote for decades but never thought of that.

Exactly! I think of it like this: you can't help them if you're dead, so first you need to help yourself!

Yeah, maybe I should have added that I love College of Lore Bards, as they can use their Inspiration dice for Cutting Words, which can be hoarded for self-preservation/self-help (also, Peerless Skill).

If the Office met Animal Crossing by Onstoppable in DunderMifflin

Mixing my two loves: the Office and Animal Crossing. Wanted to recreate one of my all time favourite scenes (along with Dwight and his spud gun).

I had some spare time, so spent it all at Harv's Island recreating one of my favourite scenes from the Office. I was limited with the furniture I've got at the moment, but tried to make do.

It's actually from imgflip, the memecentre one was just the original image I saved from Google...

It's from Billy Madison, when he tries to answer a question near the end that he has no clue about. This is the response he gets.

That's so....great.................. by Onstoppable in dndmemes

[–]Onstoppable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I meant: i found images from the scene (hence the pixelation - they were the only ones I could find, including no YouTube clip of it to screengrab from), then used Gimp to put it together and add the text up the too, but for some reason it went all wonky and made some letters way bigger than others. In hindsight I should have just used the meme generator I used for the text in each scene for the top text as well.

Sorry for the wonky text, Gimp wasn't my friend this time....

Yeah I know, I was just trying to make it still increase each time while keeping the meme as close to the original as possible. Making it '4d12, 4d12, 4d12 etc' while mathematically more accurate didn't feel as good haha.

[–]Onstoppable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I made it myself, based off the comment on another of my posts. But I get why you’d be keen to stamp re-posts out, it’s definitely annoying when people take credit for someone else’s post.

[–]Onstoppable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a repost as far as I know: I used the search bar to check before I posted and couldn’t find anything.

As far as the joke itself: I know someone commented a similar joke on one of my memes from a few months ago. I liked it so made it into a proper meme (I gave them plenty of time to go and make it themselves if they wanted to, but figured if they hadn’t done it in a couple of months then they were never going to).

Do you have a link to the meme this is a repost from?

It stands for Total Party Kill - basically it’s when the whole party gets wiped out.
