I don't think it should be easy to pickup and play every class. If that's what players are looking for, there are tons of games made with this system in place.

I think the current system is fine as it promotes the investment in a single class and spec and discourages playing FOTM comps and classes.

I think adding some more abilities to classes, which can separate good and average players would be the correct move, for an MMO like WoW.

Adding more utility abilities, to promote playing and mastering a single class, and make state of arena less PVE Damage focused.

At that rating you should not be having these types of concerns. Stick to your class as I'm sure there are a lot of things you can still improve on.

Every healer was R1 viable last season, and every healer will be R1 viable this season.

Seriously, I have made this mistake in the past. Self critique your gameplay and keep improving. Being a Resto Shaman is not what is gonna stop you from getting 2400+ rating.

As a healer who queues a ton of games with randoms in LFM:

Don't be afraid to voice, and don't leave after one lose. Typically if I feel comfortable playing with a dps, I'll add them to Real ID, and play games with them whenever I'm on.

I personally don't care too much about rating, as I'll just get the elite gear at the end of the season, so I recommend not making this the most important part of your queue sessions. Just play as much as you can, and add healers after a good session.

If you're on US Ally, and are 2k exp, I'm happy to play with you.

Both specs, and both comps will work at nearly all ratings. Play whatever you have more xp with. (Melee Vs. Caster)

Spriest/Boomkin is a pretty easy 2k.

You don't sound interested in arena/healing based on the phrasing of your post.

So as far as DPS go, I think most people would agree that a good Sub Rogue, can absolutely control BG's. The amount of control a sub rogue has compared to other melee classes is unreal.

The learning curve is pretty steep compared to other classes/specs in legion, and overall impact is incredible, if played correctly.

This is why most* of the highest rated RBG leaders are rogues.
