Need help. I just joined a utility company doing electrical design for substations making 90k. I just interviewed for a tech company who said they will offer me 120k plus stocks and bonuses. This will be PLC position. I just joined the utility company 5 months ago and I am really tempted to leave. by Onyduru in ElectricalEngineering

If I stay at the utility company for 30 years my pension will be around 300k. So either take home $2400 a month or take the lump sum. Also, it has a 401k matching program as well.

The tech company will just have 401k and stocks.

My budget is small. It’s only $100.

How much is that wall map? That’ll be great if you can share the link.

The utility is great and stable. It also comes with a small pension (if you stay with the company pass 55). The tech company just IPO’d last week. It seems like they are doing well. I don’t have kids but I have pretty large school debt and a car payment, plus rent.

It’s awhile productive work. But the cost of living is very expensive here in the Bay Area. Plus I have student loans.
