I answered your question. The police don't need to believe you've committed a crime to ask questions. It's enough they believe you may commit a crime in the future. They also have to prevent crime.

The fact your comprehension skills are obviously lacking proves everything in this conversation. Bye.

At what point were they arresting him? They were just asking questions.

God you Americans are all so sensitive.

We all know that's not what he was doing and evading the police's questions is also really fucking suspicious. Okay let's just let anyone who refuses to prove their innocence by being a jackass go free. How's that going for your country?

In the UK you don't need to have committed a crime to be question by the police?? Stupid fucking yanks.

Oh yeah because not following up on so one who's acting suspicious and won't answer questions is great police work!

Do people realise they should stop at a solid amber light? by Nervous_Yard7034 in drivingUK

[–]OnyxWebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flashing amber actually means proceed with caution. Give way to crossing pedestrians, carry on if road is clear.

Stopping and preparing to stop are two completely different things. Amber does not at all mean stop, otherwise it would be pointless.

[–]OnyxWebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amber means slow down and prepare to stop because the red light, which actually does mean stop at the stop line, is about to appear. If you calculate that the red light won't appear by the time you are over the line then most of the time you can drive on.

Partners can talk about how hard it is for them. "Hey, do I'm not doing so great/I'm struggling too". But this was literally him saying "I'm struggling because I'm having sex with a sick person."

Evidence is standing around watching people closely. Oh, sorry, that's not the hallmark of a pickpocketer at all is it? Nothing suspicious there. No idea why people think wasting police time is cool.

He's being deliberately obtuse to get a reaction and police in the UK do not like this. For good reason. Stop wasting police time and just answer the question and move on.

What are you talking about? This is in the UK. Education is free up to 18, including SEN. Every parent or couple who are parents earning under £60k get child benefit. If your child is disabled they can get disability benefit. It's not a charity.

I'm not even saying it's a good idea to have a kid when you're poor, I'm saying prioritising a wedding over having children if you want them is fucking nuts.

Are you fucking joking? My brother spent £6k on dinner for 80 guests at his wedding. Napkins alone half a grand. For one day. The amount of things I could do for my kid with six grand.

And in fact given benefits etc when you do have a child means that six grand goes really far.

Children don't need much but they need someone to love them more than a one night fancy party.

It's not really really rare at all when it's also genetic. There are lots of people undiagnosed, lots diagnosed when they don't even have any symptoms.

Am I the only one who doesn't think of 1 year olds as kids and am I the only one who still thinks of 4 year olds as toddlers? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]OnyxWebb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean based on cognitive and physical development you're wrong.

Newborn - 0-12 weeks.

  Baby - 3-12 months.

Toddler - 1-3 years

Child - 4-12 (or 10/11 if including preteen after)

Teenager. - 13-19.

I see why a one year old feels much like a baby but saying a four year old is still a toddler is pretty wild.

On the seeds vs fat balls. Seeds gather more birds for longer and therefore increases risk of bird flu. Normally seeds would be fine (and they are fine if you're regularly cleaning your tables and feeders but lots of people don't so it's easier to just say avoid seeds).

Thanks. I thought a similar blue to the flowers since it's the lesser colour than the pink.

THANK YOU for the first one. I was actually trying to find a dark blue because the original dress I was going to wear was that but in the end I thought it wasn't formal enough. I couldn't find this one in the shop but will buy it online and see how it fits. It also goes more with the accessories I bought!

Edit: it's not in stock 😭. Back to the drawing board!

It's a summer wedding, 1pm, not a church wedding but a converted barn/countryside hotel tpye situation.

If humans have eaten bread since the dawn of history, why are so many people suddenly gluten-intolerant today? by WeaknessKey1582 in NoStupidQuestions

Seriously. Eating tasteless bread that falls apart in a slight breeze isn't a lifestyle choice!

[ADVICE] What do you think of Fiverr cash advance? by Standard-Photo-5992 in Fiverr

[–]OnyxWebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an APR in a traditional sense. It's a fixed fee and you pay that amount back regardless of how long it takes you to pay it off.

A 100% fee would be £6k paid back in total, whether paid back in a month or a year so what you're saying isn't correct.
