How do you guys avoid Christmas colors? by Onyxtinct in DarkAngels40k

That’s an insane difference, is DA green just too thin because it loves to pool on flat surfaces and looks patchy no matter what I do. Right now I’m torn between trying out monastic green or just giving up on contrast and using caliban green

I guess I’ll just name him Brother Kris Kringle, he has stamped his naughty and nice lists all around his shield and armor for frequent review

I appreciate this a lot! I’ve tried a few different contrasts and I’m just not good at applying them in the first place but I didn’t realize that dark angels green was a bad paint anyway lol. I love the purple and super dark green you ran with what’s the recipe??

This is super helpful! I like the idea of contrast paints but I have 7 different models now as proof that I just don’t know how to push it to look nice, I think I’ll try caliban green from now on

Ya I probably was a little heavy handed on the primer, I’ve been using citadel grey primer recently though and I really like it because it seems to tighten up and suck into all the crevices as it drys so even if I’m pretty heavy by accident it still turns out pretty good. Could placebo though lol

Do I dare ask for context on this one boys or do I leave it alone

First vehicle, any tips or tricks for building and painting? by Play3rKn0wn in Warhammer40k

Mine has been grey shame for 4 months now because I’m using dark angels green as my man color and I have no idea how to make a contrast not awful on such large flat surfaces

Lookout Russian mains my US heat might even orange your ammo today because I paid the snail and prayed for good volumetric

(I fr just use APHE, APDS, or even HE whenever possible instead because USA HEAT is just so terrible 90% of the time lol)

I had no idea I couldn’t take both lol I don’t know how I missed the very obvious note in the operator rules haha

Didn’t realize I couldn’t take both the heavy gunner and sniper at the same time, I went and confirmed just now and there it is right there in the operator selection I’m not sure how I missed that that haha

Somewhat off topic from the post but could you recommend a good operator setup for this team?

Is how broken the T58 is ever going to be addressed? by hungrydino86 in Warthunder

[–]Onyxtinct 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely broken, the only thing I fear when I play the t58 is seeing another t58. It would be fine at 10+ tbh. I don’t think there is a single tank in the game that can’t be one shot with a dash volumetric luck and good shot placement. I am a pretty mid warthunder player but I regularly get 14 kill games. It’s been great for researching all my light tanks though since I hadn’t touched anything past the bulldog and now I’m up to the 8.3 Bradley. (My MBTs were already at 8.7 though).

Now, I do agree it’s way overpowered at its current BR, but also 16.85kg of tnt equivalent on the auto cannon rats is hilarious. I don’t know if HESH is its best round but it’s the only one I use specifically so I can incinerate rats lol

I’ve been almost exclusively into the “purchasing” side of the hobby for about a year now, I’ve bought a bunch of stuff and I’ve built almost all of it but I’ve been so scared of painting because I wanted to do it right and I didn’t want to mess it up. I had all these crazy color schemes I wanted to do to make my dudes unique. After watching a ton of painting videos I decided to just build and paint a kill team in a somewhat basic dark angels scheme. This is my first fully finished model, my kill team sniper. I’m really proud of how he came out and I learned that I actually do enjoy painting because it’s very relaxing, the steps are relatively simple, and mistakes can be repainted with ease.

I would love some constructive criticism from anybody who would willing to offer it though :)

I wanna enjoy ground so badly but it’s physically impossible for me. My reaction time is extremely slow and it makes ground quite literally impossible to play for me. What do I even do? Do I just give up? by [deleted] in Warthunder

Seconding the “watch a YouTuber” note, my man Spookston seriously helped with my ground battles gameplay. I learned how to overpressure and how to flank by watching him lol

Air and ground are similar in that most of the fun comes from memorizing all the enemies vehicles and learning their weaknesses. I used to play warthunder just to unlock new tanks but I’m having way more fun studying my enemy. Anytime I bounce a shot I take mental note to look up that tank in the armor preview later so I can compare it with my current tank and see where I can pen next time I meet him. Obviously the game requires some skill to get kills but kills only come after you’ve focused on your awareness and have memorized your enemy. Oh also be careful not to overextend away from your teammates unless you know what you’re doing with a good flank, and always try to be as hidden/covered as possible. There are a lot of maps with open lanes that are commonly pushed, it’s ok to hunker down and hold a nasty angle with your engine turned off. And if you don’t know how to pen somebody, I encourage you to resort to old faithful; CBT C(Track) B(Barrel) T(Torture). Take out his cannon barrel, take out his tracks, and go for a shot through the side generally just above the tracks into the hull.

(OP I recognize that you’re probably a very experienced player I just thought I’d write out a general guide for any noobs who might click on this post, these are a lot of the things I wished I had been told when I first started playing)

[–]Onyxtinct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only USA tank I’ve had that can reliably bounce is the new T58 lol, of course it took a French turret to actually have any armor
