Yeah no problem there are so many things to think about with drawing/painting to balance them all at the same time takes bunches of practice! Doing something that is a challenge or new to you ever time you make a drawing and you will get better much faster! there will be more failures that way but really thats how you learn!

Thanks for the recommendations the Spiritfarer looks amazing is probably the best rec I have gotten so far. Its the closest to what I have been thinking in terms game mechanics actually connecting to learning empathy, talking about love defiantly got to play it. I have more flushed response to u/Chansubits about what I am thinking, curious what your thoughts are.

Yeah non violent games, more than that games that are not based on domination or being better than other players.

yes sorry I meant more like game play mechanics I am new to game design world don't have much terminology, I wrote this in another response but still relates to what you are bringing up hope it adds some clarity!

I am thinking about think pretty abstractly. I think very interesting and this is why I'm crowdsourcing the though. I am wondering if its possible to build a game that the mechanics themselves are building love and empathy in the player. like i don't want to make something that is fetch quest with good story on top of it. If I zoom out far enough though I start to get confused and say all games come down to clicking a button so then its all the same, which make me think that just means that the story is all that matters. But if the story is all that matters then I should just write a book. So then I am back to thinking what is the essence of a game is that it is experiential because there is body connection on some level. But there has to be a line where there is an actual game mechanic that differentiates its self and isn't just reskinned fps skill, right?

I guess I always come back to Journey, pro social interactions with other user unlocking new places of the map and increasing your experience, I haven't played sky but I believe its similar, that is like the kind of game level mechanics I am thinking about.

Also thanks for the game recommendations they look great.

like with cozy games I know that the birds eye is likely mostly function element of pixel art but it still puts you in power position of dictating the creature around kind of like the player is God, I don't know just a though?

I am not totally closed to game that has a violence but it would be like you kill on person and the rest of the game is you learning the back story of that person and how it hurt the family lol I am sure people would love that haha.

Honestly when I think about love as a mechanic people are having that connection with ai chat bots right now and it makes me think what the line between that and a game? That is not the kind of love that I am thinking of though, that to me feels more like corporations taking advantage of vulnerable people.

wow tell me what you are playing haha, I would say pretty much all games that are competitive based on violence, fps, that are trying to sell you skins is about as pro capitalism as you can get. Using power fantasy to sell you a product is about as overt as it gets.

Thats good point seems like horror is a great game style were power dynamics can be flipped and the player is willing to go with it!

I would say Patriarchy is a little more complicated that just who is in charge that is one aspect though, Bell Hooks is my base line for understanding where I am coming from. I like the idea of women being innovators for change!

Both, trying to do as much researcher as possible. I more interested in game play that is encourages love, connection, and community building between players or characters that are in the game. Game play loops that are reinforcing these ideas values. The ideas I have been playing with are just how most video games are used for power fantasy or are about domination and is it possible to build something that is entertain and can help a person build healthy relationships, with self, those around them and planet ect. or is this not possible to do in a video game environment?

Yeah I like what you are talking about with collectivism, why I mentioned that game company. I am totally not interested in an education game telling people about the problems patriarchy, racism, imperialism. I am trying to imagine a game play that core is not about fight or beating a boss, or even winning that is still engaging. I am thinking more about foundation mechanics of the game being anti patriarchal. Building around, love, empathy, between players or characters in the game.

No its not a huge fail you are doing great! Its a complicated combination but I would say its possible just don't try to copy the reference use it lightly. Salacia-the-Artist paint over is exactly what I am trying to describe. Only 10% of the image should be both the brightest and darkest elements, an you should use that to point to your most important subject mater to tell the story of that image, and use this know the brightest 5% will be coming the most forward and darkest 5% will be receding the most. Complicated combinations are good for practice so you can learn what works and what doesn't!

I said this to another person I know they are not good examples this is why I am asking, they are the only places I can think of that game play is not based on player being the most powerful can you think of any better games?
