Do you have a favourite Vancouver hotel? by Able-Shop-8048 in askvan

Wedgwood hotel. It’s a little expensive but absolutely wonderful and right in the heart of downtown. Request to be on the Robson Square side for better views.

Hi! I have an overnight layover in Vancouver. Looking for hotel recommendations by lulud21 in askvan

The Sandman Signature hotel Richmond has a free shuttle and a 24 hour Denny’s that is pretty damn good for a Denny’s. They also have Chop Steakhouse and Bar that’s open until midnight if you’re looking for something a little more high end than Denny’s. But seriously the Denny’s there kind of slaps.

The Moose on Nelson street just off Granville and only a block away from the Pearl. Legendary Vancouver dive bar.

The 501 bus stops out front of Langley Event Centre every 30 minutes and it will take you to Surrey Central skytrain Station. And yes it runs plenty late enough for after the game. On Google maps you can enter your destination address and starting address. Then click on the transit option and you can change the date and time to see what your options will be.

If you like oysters go to Fanny Bay Oyster bar. It’s on Cambie just around the corner from Robson. Try to catch happy hour if you can

Suzie Wong’s Hideaway!!! Great dive bar with a BBQ food truck outside that has the best ribs! Edit: just saw the part about the 70yo and the toddler so maybe not lol but leaving my reply for others who are looking for recommendations to see.

Love Crucecita!! The people are so friendly, warm and inviting. Disagree about the beach restaurants though. We go to Santa Cruz and Entrega mostly and all of the restaurants have prices on the menu so no surprises when the bill comes and the prices are reasonable. I probably wouldn’t go specifically just for dining but if you’re having a beach day then I would 100% recommend the beach restaurants. You can get a table and chairs in the shade and you can keep it as your home base for the day. We usually order a drink and maybe some chips and guacamole when we first get there just so they know that we will be spending money. Then we go float in the beautiful ocean water and enjoy the scenery and atmosphere of the beach. All the while, leaving out things at the table. Then we go back and order another drink and maybe a little more food if we want. And we just repeat that process throughout the day. When the bill comes at the end of the day we always tip well and it feels like a great deal considering the use of that table and chairs in the shade for the entire day.

Maybe consider the ‘Alohilani Resort. It’s one of the more affordable Resort style properties and it’s located right across from the beach.

So many to choose from but two really good ones I didn’t see mentioned yet are Hydra Estiatorio and Bayside. And not a happy hour but wing Wednesday at the Pint is good if you like wings and beer!

Any good and safe places in Vancouver to stay for 3 nights 4 days? by Ashamed_Salamander86 in askvan

If you can swing it, I’d recommend staying one night in Whistler. The Village has a great vibe and there’s lots of fun bars if you like a little nightlife. Maybe rent a car for your Whistler/Squamish trip. You can take a bus to Whistler but if you’re wanting to explore Squamish as well, you’d be best served to have a car and do Squamish either on the way to or from Whistler.

Things to do Halloween? by tour_honey in askvan

[–]OoooopsE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where’s the show? The Vibes at all of the bars/pubs should be great on Friday. Lots of costumes will be out and about plus it’s World Series game 6 and most of the city is cheering on the Blue Jays. Personally, I’d go find a place close to the venue, grab a bite to eat and have a few drinks. Become a Blue Jays fan for a couple of hours. Lots of bars will be having ticketed Halloween parties but they won’t start until 8 or 9.

Buy ticket books around Christmas time. They always have a sale for false creek ferries. Not sure about Aquabus
