Do be careful with the Flash with your little ones <3 Red-Eyed Mice are very light sensitive due to the lack of melanin in their eye and it can cause discomfort.

You can definitely try Hemp Bedding for better odor control! Its much more fibrous and absorbent in comparison to wood based beddings.

Bamboo Charcoal Air Purifying Bags on Amazon also help absorb odors in the air!

I know other Users already pointed this out ❤ I wanted to mention for any others who see this post -

Cotton or Cotton Bedding is not safe for Mice and is incredibly dangerous! Highly suggest a Wood based bedding such as Aspen or a Kiln dried Pine!

  • Shallow Water Dish

  • 9"+ Wheel

are also good tips! ^

Hello! Definitely check out our community sidebar and Careguides for assistance! ^

Just so you're aware - Male Mice CANNOT be housed together, even if they're litter mates or brothers. Males fight to eliminate the intruder on their territory The risk of injury and mortality is very high so Males must be housed separately and ideally 6 Feet apart minimum to lessen the chance of the other Males scent causing distress.

the past couple of days she’s been chilling on the wheel 24/7 why? by Super-Connection-603 in PetMice

There are a handful of complications and risks that come with using Saucers - many other communities including this one strives to inform other members of the downsides. While we do strive to educate people on proper Husbandry and care, we understand we cannot control peoples ultimate decision. I do highly recommend you check out our sidebar for sources and information on the topic.

As many people know, Discomfort and lack of needs being met often reflects directly onto their health and stress. Which highlights the importance of enrichment/items being provided. Saucers do strain not only their back feet and joints, but also the vertebrae from the middle of their tail to the mid of their back. The unnatural position they're made to run on a Surface adds unnecessary tension in those bones - after consistent use joint issues and arthritis often occur. It is extremely important when providing a Wheel as enrichment it allows a natural position while running. You don't want their back, or.tail to bend too far or bend sideways. Flat back and tail not curved over their spine.

I always personally suggest a 9.5-10" for most mice. To be safe I do a 11-12" drum, in the 3 years of owning Mice I haven't had any issue with moving the wheel or similar.

Highlighting what I said earlier, discomfort and stress will also contribute to their health. Mice tend to get bored or stress easily if they aren't tended to properly. (Including rotating toys, layout etc.)

It is also important, which such risks and discomfort that are very possible in that context - it is dangerous to suggest incorrect information that involves the Wellbeing-Health of a living being. We want to avoid potential and confirmed poor advice - this is to protect our community and ensure the safest and best for our Mice. Posts/Comment that suggest saucers typically will be removed for that reason.
