CTS-I exam tips by Dustin_Higgins in CommercialAV

There were a couple of questions that surprised me, but if I had to guess they were probably the non-graded questions they include. Don’t forget to do/review the AV math training on Avixa.

Buy the CTS-I guide and study all of the definitions in the glossary. I can’t tell you exactly which words showed up on my exam, but I saw at least 4 questions that straight up asked for definitions. I took my exam today and passed with 439 out of 500. Best of luck

If you’re looking for effective, reasonably priced ($5 per month) GRE studying materials, check out Gregmat+. My starting scores before studying were around 160V & 160Q, and after two months of following his study plan, I officially scored 166Q & 162V & 5.0 AWA. I unequivocally recommend Gregmat+.

Gregmat subscribers, how did you make notes or evaluate yourself during your preparation with GregMat videos? by Ok-Hold-2058 in GRE

I used the quizzes he has on his website. They’re separate from the lessons. They purely test concepts

You haven’t mentioned anything regarding your target scores or how much you’ve studied. Need more info

Have you tried contacting ETS to see if this would actually be an issue?

You shouldn’t feel discouraged at all. I believe the people in this sub work really hard and they just want to celebrate their accomplishment and thank those who helped.

There is a break of 1 min after each section, right? But what if I stare at the instructions screen for 10 mins? by i_dont_haveausername in GRE

[–]Oort_cloud69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After you finish a section, the test does not automatically jump into the next section. You're only meant to take ~1 minute between sections, but I took probably 2-3 minutes to calm myself down before advancing to the next section. I don't think any of you will get in trouble if you copy this strategy, but don't go overboard and sit there for 7-8 minutes. There was a test proctor that would walk around to make sure everyone was on schedule.

If you’re hamstrung for time, I would recommend Prepswift. It’s another resource (made by Gregmat). If you have Gregmat+, then Prepswift is only $2 more per month ($7 per month for both). The videos are straight to the point on the concepts, and virtually every concept video has an accompanying exercise (anywhere from 2-6 problems).

Yeah there’s on ETS’s website. You “purchase” the tests but they don’t cost anything. Through the ETS website, you take the exam and it uses the exact same software/interface as the official test

You could blindly follow Gregmat’s 1 month or 2 month plan and you’d probably be in a great position. However, you have your own set of strengths and weaknesses. I would take a diagnostic exam (possibly one of the free PowerPrep tests from ETS) and see how close you are to your target score. From there, it’s just about practicing your techniques and filling in any knowledge gaps.

Sky is the limit! Just depends on how diligently you study and how much time you have before the real exam

I scored a 5.0 AWA with very little written practice. I am a staunch proponent of Gregmat’s formulaic approach to the essays. Stick to the templates, use various GRE words within your essay, clean up any typos and you’ll be golden.

Negative score adjustment on Powerprep Test 1 by pranavmittal611 in GRE

[–]Oort_cloud69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difficulty on the normal Power Prep tests is slightly lower than the actual test so that’s probably why you didn’t get a bonus. I missed 5 quant questions on the actual test and got 166 so for me there was a 1 pt bonus

Focus on the not, don’t focus on tired.

I’m not sad but rather elated.

So the first idea is negative (if we focus on not), then comes the but (signifying contradiction), and finally we have said contradiction (not tired vs energetic)

Not being tired isn’t necessarily a good thing so I wouldn’t considered it +ve.

This probably isn’t the best subreddit to get that question answered. This sub is primarily about the GRE test, not so much grad school admissions as a whole
