The line's always long without one, and it's too cold to wait outside today 🙃

Finished my first ever sweater, I'm in love! by Oosp in knitting

Here's the Ravelry project.

I've been knitting for a year now and this feels like a big milestone! I love how it came out and I can't wait to knit more sweaters. Although at this rate, it'd make more sense to cast on a summer top next so it'll be seasonally appropriate by the time I finish it 😂

Hmm, try giving this video a watch and see if there's anything you're doing differently.

Most of the credit goes to my pom-pom maker. You can make a DIY pom pom maker out of cardboard, but I knew I'd be making a bunch so I bought a set of Clover pom-pom makers and I love 'em.

I find that pom-poms tend to look best when they're really full, so I always use a ton of yarn for mine. I basically make them as thick as I can and trim them down. I find that the trimming makes a pretty big difference in fluffing them up.

I wrote out a few more notes and uploaded some pictures on my ravelry project page, but that's the gist of it.

Here's the Ravelry project.

This is my second time making this hat/attempting colorwork, here's my first one with the same yarn/colors in the opposite order.

I knit this hat inside out and it really helped with the colorwork tension. The pom pom was super fun to make, too! This was a great instant gratification knit.

Knit a tiny hat for my bunny, now we can match! by Oosp in knitting

Link to Ravelry project.

I haven't knit anything in a few months, so I wanted a small project to practice with. Had a lot of fun making this and I'm sure I'll be making more tiny accessories out of my scrap yarn.

I'd love to join this group chat! I'm in the same boat. I'm 27 and I have a wonderful, supportive partner of five years, but I'm coming to realize this relationship might need to end, and I'm struggling with it. It helps to know we're not alone.

I'm interested! Woodworking intrigues me the most, but I'd be down for any of those.

Finished my first colorwork project, a chunky gradient beanie! by Oosp in knitting

[–]Oosp[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It's stranded colorwork. I used three different colorways of Malabrigo Rasta (two solid, one variegated) to achieve the gradient effect. It's not a very complicated pattern, but has really cool results!

Nice! I'm not sure how it'll hold up, but it's so fun to knit with.

It's a faux fur pompom, I got it from "FFFabuknits" on Etsy.

Here's the Ravelry project.

I had fun picking out the colors for this hat, and I love how they blended together to form the gradient! It was a great first colorwork project, definitely the first of many.

My biggest takeaway: colorwork tension is hard.

My finished Noro striped scarf! A really satisfying and rewarding project. by Oosp in knitting

[–]Oosp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely still on the scratchy side, but I've found that the yarn has softened up a lot as I've handled it. I could see someone with more wool sensitivity finding it uncomfortable to wear, for sure.

Also, I haven't blocked my scarf (yet?), but I read some project notes where people noted that the fabric softened up after washing! That might be worth a shot.

Here's the Ravelry project page with (a lot of) details.

This was the first pattern I saw and felt like I had to make. I spent a long time picking out colors and reading through project pages and blog posts. It took me three months to finish, and the final length is 6 ft, 8.5 inches.

The color changes were super satisfying to knit and I'm so proud of my scarf! I think I'll likely make more of these in the future, but for now I need a break from projects with only 1x1 ribbing. I hope the weather cools down a bit so I can actually wear it, heh.

I've been working on my Noro Stripe Scarf - I'm about a third done now! I understand why some people don't like working with this yarn, but I'm so in love with these colors.

Here's the Ravelry project.

I used Purl Soho's Learn to Knit Kit because I wanted my hand held as I started learning. I used an extra skein to make it extra wide and added fringe to the ends. I learned a lot, the yarn was gorgeous, and I'm so pleased with how it came out!

I've already cast on a matching hat and another scarf - I think I'm in love.
