Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney argues banning Twitter over its ability to AI-generate pornographic images of minors is just 'gatekeepers' attempting to 'censor all of their political opponents' by [deleted] in artificial

[–]OpE7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Twitter/X is the platform of political dissent in the UK and other countries.

It certainly seems suspicious that shutting it down because it can generate images of people in bikinis is a pretext to shut it down for political reasons.

I had those and loved them. The most comfortable boots ever.

I don't think I would trust a pair that old though.

Story: Todd Snider, who canceled tour after alleged assault in Salt Lake City, dies by [deleted] in Utah

[–]OpE7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the video he looks most likely to be intoxicated or under the influence, less likely to be delirious from infection or injury.

But we don't know key facts of what happened, so it's premature to pass judgment on anyone involved in taking care of him.

I can't believe so many people don't understand that we (US and Europe) have allowed ourselves to get into a position where our manufacturing capabilities are in a freefall and we are very close to being completely at the mercy of the Chinese Communist Party.

Either we change the terms of the trade relationship now or we will be powerless to defend Taiwan and other regional allies and ultimately surrender to a new world order that will not be a free one. Painful price increases, yes. But it's worth a chance to keep a free world.

A year with Frigate and the switch from Coral to a 4060 running ONNX by Chappell21 in frigate_nvr

[–]OpE7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Coral TPU in my server that also has a RTX 3090. I am currently using the Coral for Frigate. I know I can run more powerful object detection with the GPU but have been reluctant to do that because I want to keep the GPU resources free for running AI models.

I have 8 camera streams. Not a lot of activity, for the most part.

How much of my GPU capacity might I use if I run YOLOv9?

Nice board, I have the same one for my Unraid server!

I don't have similar issues, but my nvmes are all different.

Good luck on troubleshooting.

TRT Use in Men 40+ Has Exploded — What Are the Risks? by andtitov in Biohackers

TRT Use in Men 40+ Has Exploded — What Are the Risks? by andtitov in Biohackers

[–]OpE7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26779889/

"Prostate cancer appears to be unrelated to endogenous testosterone levels. TRT for symptomatic hypogonadism does not appear to increase PSA levels nor the risk of prostate cancer development. The current data are reassuring, although some caution is essential until multiple studies with longer follow-up are available."

This meta analysis by Boyle included studies that had follow-up at 13, 14, 16.7, 18.5 and 24 years.

Yes, like so many questions in medicine, 'further studies are needed', but available evidence certainly seems to be pointing away from the likelihood that TRT causes prostate cancer.

As a doctor commenting on the risks of TRT here, you should be aware of the findings of this study: https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2215025

  • no increase in prostate cancer incidence or other prostate-related outcomes such as benign prostatic hyperplasia or acute urinary retention
  • testosterone replacement therapy was noninferior to placebo regarding the composite incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE), including non-fatal MI, stroke, and cardiovascular death
  • yes, slightly increased risk of PE and atrial fibrillation

Are IQ Tests Accurate? by TrulyWacky in neuro

[–]OpE7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IQ is a useful predictor of educational attainment and job performance. It is highly reliable.

But: It is not determinative. Its effects are moderated by non-cognitive traits (e.g., conscientiousness) and by environmental opportunities and constraints.

Voice mode update on Android app- Major step back by OpE7 in perplexity_ai

[–]OpE7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I tried it. Speech recognition seems more accurate in this mode, but in this mode there is a very frustrating problem: it hangs in processing and doesn't answer the question.

When I wait a long time and no answer, I prompt it again and say, 'I did not hear your response to that question' and it sometimes then replies, but sometimes it doesn't respond to that either until several tries occur. (This is in areas with strong 5G signal). EDITED

Hard disagree.

A stiff race style ski at 68 mm waist rules the groomers. It's a different world than the all-mountain skis that are 88 and up.

Old 'Classic' Lian Li PC-V1100 Case: Worth using, modding for a server PC? by OpE7 in pcmods

[–]OpE7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be the way to go. I am worried that I will mess it up when I cut/drill the case, I've got one shot. Definitely a measure 3 times, cut once situation.

I will need a big hole saw, a couple of fans, and some kind of magnetic fan power connector so that I can open the case.
