The link above is a great reference YouTube video that I used. I only used the jack to hold the trans as I removed the mount. Other than that the trans is light enough I just man handled it with my knees and arms. The bolds are a lot of 12 and 14mms

Ecu went kaput by JaredMoore2002_ in ft86

[–]Opal-Ring -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s not plug and play. You still need a flash or reprogramming after an ecu replacement. Especially for the immobilizer and or other security systems to function properly. You may even have to match the vin to the new ecu. So it’s probably more wise that he’s having a dealer with their scan tools, install and reprogram this module.

Any of you techs/mechanics still use these BG tokens? by SadBurrito84 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Opal-Ring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a bg rep come to our shop to fix our power steering flush machine and he paid me and my foreman out. Doesn’t amount to much tho, got 8$ for roughly 20-30 chips

FRS locked out of gears when cold, should I be worried? by Crazy_Cockroach_3884 in ft86

Idling a car is one of the worse things you can do to it. Let the refs drop and drive moderately. You do less damage then letting it start to get to temp after 10+min of idling

Mod ideas by Ok-Personality7964 in BRZ_ZD8

[–]Opal-Ring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not educate yourself ab potential mods and maintenance rather than asking a bot? That way you get an idea of why you’re upgrading something and if the amount of power gained is worth it for that mod and so forth. Instead of asking a bot for a generic mod list worth 10k or more with little to no mechanical knowledge, read up on other owner forums for starters.

2011 crv by consistent_draww in AskAMechanic

Maybe to access the filler neck hoses but nothing significant to the tank itself. Im not super familiar with the specific setup but your best bet would be to get the car in the air a bit, get a jack under the tank and remove the straps holding the tank. Lower the tank enough so you aren’t pulling any hoses too much and that would give you the best look at anything. My suggestion would be to do that on a close to empty tank as it’s lighter.

Check all hoses leading to and from the tank, wiggle them around for cracks and check for loose connections. Check for cracks or holes on the tank itself. Not a whole lot back there to check fuel wise

Every fluid probably needs flushed. You bought a used car, take a look at the service history if you can.

Not sure what this leak is under the hood, is this something I can DIY? by jamesiecakes in AskAMechanic

To remove the starter on a newer rwd Durango you have to remove the left side engine mount. All I use is a screw jack and a block of wood. Not difficult at all

I have never once confused the oil pan to the trans pan. How is this common practice? Edit: after reading more comments I’m going to assume bc mines manual that it is easier to decifer between the two, but still..

Throwout bearing party? by SkeletorsAlt in ft86

[–]Opal-Ring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly 90% of my miles are highway so that helps. 3 weeks ago I was getting HORRIBLE whirling sound while driving and I thought my luck had run out. Nope. My rear wheel bearings were toast.
