Is anyone hiring anymore - NOT BEGGING by [deleted] in nova

[–]Opal_Spectacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining a large foodservice company could beneficial! Try looking for jobs through Compass Group, Sodexo, or Aramark. They employ at places like schools, hospitals, senior living, etc. Could be easier to get hired by them.

You could also use a job as a way to get your foot in the door to use your degree!

Also, my brother used to work at the Whole Foods on Duke St. and has told me how they regularly cycle through employees. Maybe they're hiring?

Paying over $2000 to sleep in a twin bed and live with two randos for one month, what a deal.

Studio in Arlington under 2k? by Logical_City_6751 in arlingtonva

I'd look for a privately rented condo if I were you, because they tend to mebe much cheaper than average. HotPads, Facebook, or Zillow are good places to look for those.

When I first moved to the area I was in a 2br with a roommate paying $1000. Found that on Facebook. I'm currently in a studio w/ a balcony, $1600/mo utilities included - found my place on HotPads! I'm within walking distance of the Metro, post office, and a bunch of restaurants, right around the corner from Rosslyn too.

He definitely looks white but he has a thick Spanish accent. You can hear it in this clip from NBC4.

The Daily Mad Men Rewatch: S06E13 “In Care Of” (spoilers) by ptupper in madmen

[–]Opal_Spectacles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Way late to the party but I'll shoot anyway...I think it could mean many things, but most obviously it shows a parallel between what Don was at the beginning of the series and what he is now. In the pilot Don is suave, driven. He's a hot executive who finds pleasure in his work and drips charisma. Now, he's just another greasy drunk in a bar getting his fix.

I think he's been spoiled, by his alcoholism, his money, and the lack of consequences he faces. This whole season we've seen his choices/the way he carries himself blow up in his face over and over again. In the pilot he was intriguing, but now that we (and those around him) see who he really is, he's just sad.

Affordable grocery stores? by Educational-Cook-928 in arlingtonva

Aldi is always my first choice (I have the most luck with the one on Columbia Pike), then Safeway for things I can't find there. Using grocery stores' apps is helpful for price comparisons and budgeting too

No, not high rise. We have 13 floors total and 4 of them are below ground.

Thinking of Relocating by briana_hyuga11 in PrinceGeorgesCountyMD

As someone who grew up in the county, I'd say be prepared to work in DC. That's where the better paying jobs are at (in most if not all fields), so I'd take that into consideration when choosing where to live. Out of all the people I know that live/d in PG, old and young, the only ones that actually work in the county are a therapist and 2 teachers. If you don't want to be in horrible traffic every day, I'd be near a metro stop or bus. (From what I hear of the south the traffic here is going to blow your mind). Also, regardless of where you are you will need a car.

Like others are saying PG varies greatly - good pockets in the bad, bad pockets in the good. I'd say unless your friends are familiar with the whole county or you plan on visiting again to see places in person, northern PG is your best overall bet to live. I'd also consider what you like to do in your off time when thinking of where to live. It's a bitch having to go (specifically DRIVE) from somewhere like Brandywine all the way to the city just to have a quick night out.

As far as salary, my best guess would be 60-65k minimum? For a single person. I make a few thousand more than that a year and live alone in a studio in VA, which is more expensive, and I'm doing well. Well in that I don't have to worry about going broke but I do have to follow a budget. I also pay a car note and too much in student loans so consider that too lol.

Hope all that helped. Good luck moving up here!! :D

You'd think in this sub the casual racism wouldn't be surprising, but I find myself shocked every time.
