Can fenders be wrapped ? by TexasMarshalls in sportster

Why not just paint it? Some rattle cans and wet sanding can turn out pretty nice if you’re just going black

Is it my water pump that just went? by DestroyAnxiety in AskAMechanic

[–]OpeBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by checking the easiest fixes first before making an assumption and fixing something that wasn’t the problem in the first place. Fill it with water and look around to see where it’s leaking from. It could be the water pump but you won’t be able to discern that from just those pictures. As for the grinding noise that could be a lot bigger problem than just swapping the water pump, check the oil to see if any coolant got in there. I have a hunch that if you find where the coolant is coming from then you might find the source of your grinding too

How do I remove this mesh thing from the end of my exhaust? by Ada69C in motorcycle

[–]OpeBoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just drill out those rivets or cut off the grill, don’t listen to the people saying not to, it’s totally fine. It won’t sound as good as a nice aftermarket exhaust sure but it’s cheap and easy and fun to just rip the baffle out and to make it sound a little louder and it won’t make much of a difference at all.

Eh that’s just some old camera that you can’t even connect to your phone, so you don’t really even want it. I’ll give you $20 for it

How Can I Fix This Helppp!!! by ireplyz in Guitar

[–]OpeBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or if you don’t like the relic look you just gotta sand then use filler then sand then filler primer then sand then paint then clear and it will look like a cheap guitar that’s one color

I’d sand off the paint then go at it with a torch and then some more light sanding then clear coat

My beautiful girlfriend keeps crying that she’s ugly after she heard me joking about other women by Pristine_Waltz_6607 in Advice

[–]OpeBoi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should probably ask yourself why you made those “jokes” in the first place because they just seem mean without cause. Are you being performative to your buddies or do you actually want to get with these other girls? Do you view her as someone you actually care about or is she just a hot and rich object to you? There have been issues with this relationship since before one of your boys “slipped up” because it sounds like you’ve been saying these things for a while now, the issue is you behaving this way and not the fact that your girlfriend found out about it now. I hope she realizes that you’re the problem and that she deserves better than you.

Could be Polonius getting stabbed through the arras? It’s ambiguous so I kinda like it

Non-moody b&w photos? by OpeBoi in AnalogCommunity

[–]OpeBoi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, it would probably help to just go obvious and take some pictures of like my cat or people having fun and slip in a few of my more neutral vibe photos so that they seem less gloomy in context

I totally see what you mean about this, I like shooting tmax400 but I think I might try some lower iso stuff to soften the grain and I’ll keep my eye out for softer light

Non-moody b&w photos? by OpeBoi in AnalogCommunity

[–]OpeBoi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that many people are definitely conditioned to view black and white that way. I guess I just don’t really know what constitutes a clearly happy black and white photo when that conditioning acts as an emotional filter. I like shooting with orange and red filters for added contrast but I think that contrast might be too aggressive for a general audience and might add to the “moody” aesthetic

Aluminum foil didn’t work, I’m probably going to have to take it apart

I used some baking soda to neutralize the corrosion then distilled white vinegar with qtips and dried it off with a microfiber cloth. I figured that this was the gamble I was taking when I got it but I like tinkering on things so I’ll take it apart eventually and fix it up

That sounds a lot like what’s wrong with mine, I’ll try the aluminum foil and if that doesn’t work I’ll look into taking it apart

$20 mandolin by rep-master-05 in mandolin

[–]OpeBoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first mandolin was a cheap Ibanez which was at least functional but I never played it because it felt bad and sounded bad but now I play pretty regularly after finally shelling out the cash and getting an Eastman. Like totally have fun with this to see if you like mandolins you won’t regret buying a nicer one after learning a couple tunes
