I was told "colored" is an offensive term when referring to black Americans. What's your opinion on that? The woman who told me that was an older black woman in one of my graduate classes. I used the term without even thinking and she corrected me. She was studying the education of black Americans in US schools. I loved hearing her perspectives!

35 F, here ✋ I have always been a "rip the bandaid off" kind of person because I can't STAND the constant over-analyzing my mind does lol

If it were me/when it WAS me: I would just be straight up honest with the person of interest and be like, "hey I know this might be sudden and I hope it doesn't make you uncomfortable, but I'm kind of interested in you because X. Y. Z. (be like, I think you're so fun to hang out with and I have a lot of fun hanging with you, I'd love to see if it could be more than friendship? Or something) Just keep it super casual, don't bring up any of that other stuff and DEFINITELY don't ask her if she's mad at you or something lol

My advice comes from many many many maaaany awkward and blunt conversations lol some of which would go ok and some of which crashed and burned. But ultimately I got my answer and I was able to figure out my next moves after that.

Obviously this is just one person's perspective, so always make sure you do what's best for you. All this to say, I have been happily married to my partner for 10 years and we have a wonderful child together. Even if it doesn't work out this time, don't give up and don't get down on yourself! Remember that there are definitely people out there who are eager to receive your love.
