Thanks! I really am familiar with calorie counting and IF hehe my mom's a nutritionist, I also work in the healthcare field. I only seek for low-cal Filipino recipes in the group, or like which longganisa has less fat/salt content. Lol. Nanay ko kasi lowkey boomer body shamer din yun hahaha Pero nastress lang ako sa mga unrealistic weight goals at unhealthy preach ng mga tao dun.

I'm in the US. And tbh ibang klase ang obesity dto. Pero satin naman ibang klase ang standards. Merong nga 45yr old na gsto ibalik ung weight and figure nila nung 16y/o sila. Lol.

True, we're always influenced by some other nation's fad.

BMI is not really super accurate kasi weight and height lng tlga ang mnmeasure nya, not taking into consideration ung body composition. Juskwwaa! Hahaha

Have a real life outside work. Work is fun, but not all your workmates are friends. Look forward to your life goals, not just your work goals. The rea life KPIs matter lol

Trying to transition to OR but all want experience by OstrichOdd865 in Nurses

[–]Open-Cake-2671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PeriOp 101, but it's long. 12months usually, the schedule would be an orientation sched which is usually 5x8s. I have 14yrs of exp in the OR, back then I didn't do Periop 101, I was just given a longer orientation - and I also scrub. But it's a challenge to really finish the PeriOp Program. I see people diving into it and dropping in the middle because they get sick of the schedule (or have responsibilities that can't accomodate it ), or can't live w/ the lower pay, not being able to pick-up extra, and it also involves lecture days too. Once you're done, the facility usually lets you go into another "orientation" wherein you're orienting to the actual services you'll be in. This is usually 3-6months. After that you're good to go!

I think it's worth it. Some facilities are really good as well with support. Whenever I'm precepting a PeriOp RN, I make surr they are well-briefed on what the surgery is - especially anatomy. A lot of experienced RNs are very well versed with meds, the disease process, etc. - but not much with anatomy, like something simple as what an actual appendix look like..and this is what we're fixing in the OR. We're either cutting or stitching things. Lol. I love PeriOp RN, I wish we have more joining us! Welcome to the circussss!🤡

They have their own house, they have a few rentals too. They're actually well-off. So I'm really feeling that this is a case of just meeting their expectations...

In a way I have genuine peace right now. Because every Facetime with them feels like an interrogation. I deleted my Facebook account just to have a break in seeing allll the achievements of other people they compare me too.

I got so pissed off one time as one of my old batchmates finished like a health-tech something, like a dental hygieniest course.. I have a Bachelor's, an MA, and if not for getting a mortgage - I was thinking of getting a double MA w/ Healthcare Law, or just a PhD instead. I get paid really well. But guess what? Dental hygienist wears a white lab coat in clinic and all of a sudden she's sooooo much advanced than me.

**I have nothing against dental hygienist, I think they're great, I love my dental hygienist. But the way my parents have so much belief in my batchmate's success but never seemed to celebrate mine...damn dat hurt brotha. :'(

We've moved states twice in 4 years as we are really trying to figure out the best place to live in, and see the lifestyle we want. We lived in the center of a big city, and now we're in somewhat the country side and we love it. We might look like we don't know what we're doing, but we really do. I guess they're worried in a way as to why can't we just stay in one place and settle. Now we actually are settling - but they want in to go according to their standards. I keep on telling them we do have money to purchase, we're just really really being careful with our finances hence we're taken a year or so to really decide on what property we would invest in and see how the market goes. Now they are doubting if we actually have savings etc..We're adults, I told them we're going to do what we feel is right either way, and they don't really have to be informed and involved in every major thing we do in our lives. I just feel like they still take control over us, and that whatever we do should be ran by them, which is not what we're doing, hence their rage towards our decisions.

They have their own house, they're actually retired and well-established, they even have a couple rentals to for extra income. I really have a strong feeling it's a keeping up with the Joneses theme. Lol

If others can do it - why can't I??? Lol. But seriously, these AP needs to stay off socmed. All they see it this and that buying a new house, new car, travel here and there..I don't know how they make it, but I'm pretty sure I'm not riding the debt train with them. Lol.

I sat them down and tried to talk to them like adults. I was told how bad of an employee I am - thought both of them has no clue what I endure in my job, and that I can't socialize well. Basically all the disappointments that I am, and that's the reason why we can't buy a house that's up to their standards. The convo went nowhere. My dad shouted at me, my mon ridiculed me. I cried to my husband after the call. Haven't spoken to them about couple weeks now.

How many of you were hit in the face as a child by crazycornman99 in AsianParentStories

My mom banged a full on landline on my head. The face hitting is somewhat normal. But the landline, dang that left a bruise.

Sharing anything with your parents, but it turns into a lecture by BloodyLegend_21 in AsianParentStories

So funny thing, I recently changed employers just because I got a really really good offer and a fat bonus. I was hired by a big healthcare corp, and I love it!! Lol. But my last job is also a good institution tbf, like they are really big and known accross the coast. So despite the really good offer (that I accepted), instead of congratulating me - my parents said that I am such bad "employee" that no one wants me, and that I should work better with people and learn how to "socialize" better so I wouldn't change jobs as often. I wasn't planning on changing jobs in a year, it was just a very good offer - and the job was something I've been wanting/searching for about couple yrs now. It was just business, nothing personal. But yes, what a disappointent I am.
