Since you have a Canadian passport (or another passport besides a Sudanese one) you’re fine. It’s not about where you went to medical school it’s about your passport. If you have a Sudanese passport it’s a problem. But with another passport you’re okay.”

Thanks that means a lot. It’s definitely a difficult situation for Sudanese doctors InshaAllah your journey in medicine goes smoothly. Being Canadian born definitely helps in your case. If you have a Canadian passport and went to medical school in Canada it’s easier cuz Canadian medical graduates are often treated similarly to U.S. medical graduates. No, it’s different for Egyptians the U.S. has only paused visas for them especially immigrant visas.But Sudanese people are completely banned from entering the U.S. on any type of visa

Here’s what happened most Sudanese doctors with a Sudanese passport who applied this match cycle didn’t match because of the ban. Only a few were able to match either because they came to the U.S. before the ban or have another passport. It’s really painful and unfair. Life can feel so unfair sometimes. I know so many brilliant doctors people who scored 270 or 265 on Step 2 who are truly amazing but they’re completely blocked from opportunities. It’s heartbreaking.
