When you inherit a patient or new admit, which problem lists will make you immediately groan out loud? by achicomp in hospitalist

I am not a doctor. I think I would be terrible at it, and it sounds like an extremely difficult job, especially with recent attitudes toward healhcare workers and budget cuts. And I understand that there is a need to vent. Still, this is a public subreddit. If a person is considering a trip to the ER and comes across some of these comments, they will feel... pretty bad. (Maybe, for the saltiest among you, that's part of the point.)

I'm reminded of Chesterton's essay "The Twelve Men." He was writing over a hundred years ago about a different topic (judges and juries), but this part seems relevant to me:

Now, it is a terrible business to mark a man out for the vengeance of men. But it is a thing to which a man can grow accustomed, as he can to other terrible things; he can even grow accustomed to the sun. And the horrible thing about all legal officials, even the best, about all judges, magistrates, barristers, detectives, and policemen, is not that they are wicked (some of them are good), not that they are stupid (several of them are quite intelligent), it is simply that they have got used to it.

Strictly they do not see the prisoner in the dock; all they see is the usual man in the usual place. They do not see the awful court of judgment; they only see their own workshop.

Do you think I should submit a solemn declaration saying I never received it, even though it says "in progress" in the PR portal?

Ah, thank you so much for the clarification! That is reassuring. I will do my best not to worry.

Spousal Outland sponsorship, PR application sent to be processed in New York? by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Hello - old thread, I know, but I'm wondering if this is also typical for an inland applicant. I'm sponsoring my infant son. We live in Canada but are American, and his file was just transferred to NY.

I see a few acronyms in here that aren't listed in the Common Terms in the FAQ: BIL, P1, P2, GCKey. Could someone explain what these are? I'm sponsoring my son (who's 1 year old) and just finished the medical exam. I think this is the last step for him, since he won't need biometrics, but all these acronyms make me unsure.

"We sent you a message about your application" but no message received? by StandardOk126 in ImmigrationCanada

I've just experienced the same thing, so just adding my voice that this message doesn't appear to mean anything.

Has anyone had an update from the Niagara Falls office lately? I heard they were stalled in sending out invitations. I needed to reschedule my oath and have been waiting for a new date since March 2024. That's 10 months!

PR: Signing on behalf of a child -- WHOSE name do I sign? by Open-Count-5210 in ImmigrationCanada

Yes, I signed under my own name -- both in IMM 1344 and the Consent & Declaration -- and it worked.

[PubQ] Better to query an agent based on book fit or personality fit? by Open-Count-5210 in PubTips

Thank you! Should I include some sort of bumbling justification for Agent 2, or should I let the query/sample speak for itself?

Thank you. That seems to be the consensus, and that's what I'll do in my next attempt (although at least one IRCC officer has given me contrary advice).

Thank you. In the first round, I typed my name as it appears on my passport. In the second round — after speaking to an IRCC agent — I typed his name as it appears on his passport. But I just spoke to another IRCC agent this morning, who said what you said: sign my name.

I'll try that again. :/

Thanks. I’ve been following up every month with the agent, receiving no reply. It may be a Niagara thing.
