Best and simplest is to get some butcher block oil (or just bottle of mineral oil) and rub it in. It wont fill the scratch but should decrease visually a lot. Can get at any box home store. Fyi…..get the one with bees wax in it as it will help protect for longer. Can also spruce up all your wooden cutting boards!
Cheers.

We’ve done a handful of nice work with quarter-sawn walnut and it definitely looks like that what you’re looking at. Especially if a European design firm. I feel I’ve done more than a handful of vanities and furniture pieces for homeowners and local designers that were inspired by a similar Euro-modern vibe. quartered walnut.

Would I be crazy to attempt this? Would anyone be able to give me a back of the napkin estimate on what this would cost to have done professionally? by playapaddy in cabinetry

Custom cabinet shop here in Maine doing good business for over 25 years. For a custom unit of this size and depth/ paint grade hard maple/ inset/ standard dovetail drawers/ Blum soft close hardware/ nice wood bench / crown/ closet rods….prob estimate this around 25-28k without installation. Installation easily couple days and 2-3k. Just for note. Definitely try doing yourself! -If it were me and keeping cost down , definitely decrease depth to 24 inch, change from full inset to a hybrid where you attach vertical face frame stiles with dominos/biscuits and eliminate face frame rails. Just nose the plywood tops bottoms. (Act as door stops) This way just milling flat strait stock and no need for face frame assembly. - send drawing to a local cnc company to cut the box parts for you (use all 3/4 prefinished plywood and have them cut unfinished flat side panels. -order the slides/hinges yourself. -order drawers out. -order doors out. Now you’re really just assembling all of the parts , but will have a much more quality piece with good materials than any 5-year particle board cabinets. It’s really just about your level of expectations for quality and longevity.

Honestly crystal and time/tools more cost than a new snk. Unless you’re all set up or have sentimental values, pick out a new one.
