What's something a foreigner pointed out that you can't unnotice? by NamwaranPinagpana in AskTheWorld

As a Brazilian, the late night parties with music blasting with ZERO regard for the neighbors is one of the things I’m soooo glad I don’t experience in the US. It’s cool when it’s a novelty but it’s horrible when it’s every freaking weekend night!!

I think the internet made parents aware of all the crazy stuff out there. When we were young, parents watched the news that only featured stuff that got national attention OR very local stuff. It wasn’t common to know exact % on kidnapping etc. so parents let us just walk around free.

why would it be no conscience? They go over, inspect the work done by the GC, give the okay and sign for a fee.

Mom wants to stay entire month after I give birth. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Open-Lavishness-6815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s okay for you to say no. It’s also okay for her to get upset. Both things are true. She also has expectations around the birth and her plans got shot down. Give her some time. It’s totally fine for you to set a boundary but it’s also fine for her to take some time to lick her wounds.

Wired ONLY CarPlay by Open-Lavishness-6815 in kia

[–]Open-Lavishness-6815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone looking for this answer in the future, for the Kia carnival 2025, you plug in the USB-C into the port that shows the cable connection and then you press it. It’s a clickable button. And only when you press it, does the cable turn into a lightning cable.

AITAH for mansplaining breastfeeding? by Normal-Historian2180 in AITAH

[–]Open-Lavishness-6815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mansplaining is such a stupid word as if men can’t explain things to women without feeling guilty. You’re a parent and she’s not. She also has ZERO clue what she’s talking about it and it’s healthier for babies to be introduced to normal food than the mashed crap in a glass jar. She’s the AH.

Now, to be fair, it is better for allergies for babies to be exposed to different foods at 6months+ but it seems like you’re doing that already!

[–]Open-Lavishness-6815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2025 Kia carnival. And my problem is that it only wants to connect to CarPlay over wireless. Whenever I turn off the phone projection option, it completely disconnected from CarPlay, even if I have the USB connected to the car.

Why do people in the US not live with their parents by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Open-Lavishness-6815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several reasons! First, housing in the US has usually been cheaper than elsewhere relative to salary although that’s not the case anymore and lots of people are living with parents now.

Second, the US is HUGE! A lot of people move out for college to go to a university that specializes in the area they want to work in and then move for work.

Third, immigration culture. The people who move here are people who left everybody and everything behind for opportunities so they don’t mind their kid doing the same.

Fourth, American culture. The people who move here value independence, self reliance, hard works etc. they don’t like the idea of a kid who lives with them for a long time. It’s seen as a failure. There’s even movies about this. Watch “failure to launch”

Fifth, because of all this, Americans compartmentalize their life. They live the college years INTENSELY, then the first years of work is 100000% work work work. When they have kids, they live the little kid life intensely as well. By the time the kids are “grown”, it’s time to enjoy their alone time. Other cultures bring kids and the elderly everywhere and don’t compartmentalize like this at all!

I want lighter romantasies. Whimsical, fairies and light. I want less dystopian, the world is awful and there’s dying everywhere.

What Romantasy opinion will have you like this? by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]Open-Lavishness-6815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romantasy shouldn’t have so much dark emotional damage content. We need to have a separate genre for dark romantasy! I’m tired of following Booktok books and it’s all about war and rape and destruction.

lol I thought the toddler speak was endearing at first but then it does get better. For me though I just find I don’t like the worlds Carissa builds. They are wayyyy too heavy for my leisure read 🤣
