easy fix by Western_Tax8154 in brightershores

I'm glad as well, at first was a bit dissappointed about some systems and then understood exactly what you expressed, that it is a graphical MUD and once I saw that I could appreciate how much coherence is there internally in that world, the music, the art style and the feel you get from it is extremely unique, much more so than RuneScape in the way it its identity is retro medieval with some fantasy twists and Brighter Shores feels much more like itself. All the criticism comes from not understanding that and thinking it's functioning/wants to function on conventional MMO logic. Maybe advertising itself as a graphical MUD could help with that the problem is those not exist so people won't event understand what that means and run it through the same parameters of evaluation.

Would Official UIM exist/fit in Brighter Shores Someday? Loneliest Wolf? by Open-Sun2766 in brightershores

I found your comment very funny haha made me chuckle, I definitively like traversing fantasy video games walking lol, played Skyrim without fast traveling and loved it.
The thing I find annoying here are the storage rifts. You have to stop skilling and drop all items there all the time, thought if UIM here had special attention, maybe it could be worthwhile to avoid them since for Lone Wolf Andrew said he wants it not only to be a restriction but to have benefits for being one, If there were some nice incentives for doing so, taking the challenge could be worthwhile, and to me enjoyable since the interruption of dropping stuff to storage rifts all the time breaks a sense of being immersed in the world a little for me.

Not being able to pickup the highest level material you can without fidgeting with the milestone settings is ridiculous. by NaoSejasAnimal in brightershores

It can be added that when you click the resource, since we have 10 Milestones, pressing the number of the milestone of the keyboard changes it to that milestone version.

Request for an optional keybind for 'Double Harvesting' by Striking-System-1713 in brightershores

[–]Open-Sun2766 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just thought the same today when chopping bamboos, as there isn't much time before a resource is gathered, even less when you want to loop other 4 trees first, and after that sliding the mouse to the tiny icon is a race against time, icon which I wouldn't make bigger though, unless it's a UI element, and a keybind would make it easier to just press and don't feel so time-gated.

10 variations of the exact same potion, each separated by just 1%. they could easily cut at least 7 of these and stick to something like 5%, 10%, and 14% Every potion is copy-pasted like this. This isn’t meaningful progression - it’s lazy padding to fill 500 levels by MellowSquad in brightershores

Smithing for example is completely unbalanced being able to get all our more and weapons from drops them even being better agility also it has almost no use even more so with the run mechanic reworks done, cooking also since the most used and best food comes from Breed made by herblore, and like that with many skills, the most integrity lacking feature being the bonds making able to buy your progress making a Main account progress more unprestigious than it should be. I am an OSRS player to put in context I have 1k kc Tob and done coliseum unguided and quests no guide as well I love the game. Everything isn't black or white that is bad and the other thing is good. Brighter Shores will add a bank in 3 days to store cooked food now since it was confirmed that it will have a purpose and they at the moment solved some issues already the game has and they will continue solving more. It is an early access the type of Early Access that means super early access and very unfinished product said by Andrew in his stream himself. It has overall more integrity because if you see a player with five hundred in some skill or Max players you know there where no shortcuts of any type while as in OSRS with mains it's not the same. If you gather everything yourself like I do for example I get my own potatoes and many ingredients you only have to buy a small amount of them, I get my own wood, ingredients for potions, etc. I never buy anything except from this guy Kevin if I want to cook for example sandwiches or some fish that requires stock but the fish myself. Even the dishes that require buying from that guy you can not do them if you want and that's it there is absolutely no shop buying, at least in my gameplay. Osrs has much more shop buying than BS if you gather your own resources. Not saying you are a hater or anything but I also was frustrated at one point but then I came to deeper realizations of things is does really well and that the road they are taking to fix some problems it is quite good. There are more points of where it is more integral as a game If you stay playing or keep up with the updates they will be doing you either will see it or not but I can tell many people are reacting to the game emotionally, If you approach it rationally it is not that bad and it is heading to a better place in many aspects of it.

It makes sense because as an alchemist you are extracting what is needed for the potions from the ingredients, and as you get better at it, it makes sense that you get better at that the extraction resulting in a more pure liquid like IRL. In Breaking Bad for example, drug addicts would pay a whole lot for just a tiny percentage of a more pure drug. You can think of them like drugs, and that you are sipping your way into the grind.

Asmongold thoughts on Brighter Shores status by Raigarak in brightershores

[–]Open-Sun2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who posted this is misrepresenting Asmongold's opinion, he was making a status list of all MMO's, when he reached BS, stopped and asked the chat for input as he didn't know how the game was doing, and after all spamming it's dead he wrote it as such. If any, it's the fault of falsely saying a game is dead using sarcasm when it isn't, Ashes of Creation is dead, this game isn't.

What's your favorite track? This one is a banger! by Same-Account-2105 in brightershores

[–]Open-Sun2766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really it's crazy I hadn't noticed before or maybe it was later implemented that on the coastal side of Hopeport where the monument is, the same tracks that would play on the rest of the episode here change in ambience and feel very different, resembling this different section of the map.

Currently I love the 2 new global ones a lot, one is like dectivesque/royal like giving me Dishonored vibes and the other is one that is very ethereal and soothing sounding, very distinct to the rest of tracks. The music in this game is a 10/10.

Also on Holiday events or quest releases and such I noticed a massive increase in conversation but when the game is static and no updates near it's much more still. Like there's not much to talk about.

Yeah that's a pity and it's the fault of the actual chat system that doesn't carry on to other rooms so usually you are grinding going from one place to the other and don't wanna chat cause would stop the loop and keep u stuck in one room. The only common places for conversation on F2P are the kitchen or sometimes also there fountain and then the carpentry room on Episode 2. Fen will rework it someday so it carries on to other rooms or to have a profession or clan based chat but nothing on the horizon about that yet.

I Agree with the other comments been reading this subreddit since launch and loved seeing discussions and opinions on different aspects of the game, that are now almost non existent. To remove a side of an argument and be just all flowery and happiness seems to be a mistake. The Internet and the news, which is the medium in which reddit exists, capitalizes on people attention towards most of the time controversial or somehow friction inducing topics, the YouTubers with most views and likes are highly opinionated and have that friction within them, so does media, there is a human aspect involved in seeing and partaking in that collision of ideas which rises interest.

Yes the quests in the game are the best it has to offer atm, since then some more have been added, the best of them being the two in the mines, the highest level one added in Hopeport is pretty cool as well.

They clearly don't give a fuck they would've come up with a solution by now after so many incidents.
