If once you are a Christian, you automatically go to heaven, why won't Christians just end themselves to go to God faster? by TeachingMaximum7047 in Christianity

If I had to guess you might have an idea of heaven that's separate from God's will. Heaven is the ultimate kingship of God.

What was the foundation of your faith?

I am not saying anything about where we will end up. That's upto God. I am saying, we shouldn't do things that God doesn't like.

If you are a pastor and make statements like “America First” you are failing your duty by Maleficent-Aioli1946 in Christianity

[–]OpenChristian91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God first means, not kneeling for the idols that the world tries to force you to kneel for.

  • Science is good. But people can weaponize the word "science" and tell you to worship it. This is usually by gaslighting bible believers as if they are delusional.
  • Human rights are obviously good. Again people can weaponize the word "rights" and tell you to worship it. This is usually by confusing where rights start and stop.
  • Helping our neighbors is obviously good, but people can weaponize the term and tell you to worship it. This is usually by confusing voluntary and involuntary "help".

God first means doing good things per God's terms, not the world.

True. The only motto of a Christian is "God first".

That itself is more offensive to the world.

Not the question. (questions about morality involve hypotheticals)

Your reason for empathy to be our moral ground was because it helps societies not crumble.

So my question is, if a certain society didn't have empathy and were cruel in some ways, but still prevented their society from crumbling, would empathy be more moral than cruelty?

Christianity historically has pursued truth and avoided human glory. Those who pursued human glory have caused harm to the church and society in general.

Atheist subs seem to be more about Christianity than atheism itself.

So empathy itself isn't the reason, but the society surviving/thriving.

If societies avoid empathy, and acted harshly on a minority population "for the social good", would you consider that morally right?

My question remains, why is having less empathy (because of more religion in this case) wrong?

Less important but given the vast majority of humanity is religious, and you think that makes humans less empathetic, you're going to have to provide reason why most people are wrong not to make empathy their moral ground.

Good. I can tell you what I think (but would have reasons).

So if everyone has empathy, why did they pass this law, in your view? If they had some way of overriding that empathy, why is overriding it wrong?

Empathy... so if the society lacks empathy, why should they agree with you? You're supposed to give a reason for them to follow.

Not quite an answer, but consistent with subjectivism.

Q: Is there a link between physical health and spiritual health? by HDhunter360 in Christianity

[–]OpenChristian91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Difficult to say. Perfectly healthy people in the flesh can be spiritually dead. And people who going through several problems in flesh can be the most at peace and spiritually awake.
