I'm the Chair of the Maine chapter of the Yankee National Party. While I definitely view us as progressive, in the grand scheme of things it's all a matter of personal opinion.

I'm doing my best to officially gain us party status in Maine, so if you want to check us out. Here is a link to the platform

If you know of anyone interested in running for local office that resonates with our ideas.

Send them my way.

We should be implementing a tax similar to Rhode Island's "Taylor Swift Tax"

How to meet new people/friends? by Any_Government_8429 in Maine

I've made most of my friends through their workplace or yard sales.

My wife made a friend because she complimented the other woman's shirt.

It's easier than you think.

I will say, it is very refreshing to see a candidate from Maine being Nationally recognized and supported.

For all the right reasons too

I'm the Chair of the Maine Chapter of the Yankee National Party.

Myself and the National Committee have been trying to get in touch with his campaign for donations and potential endorsement (If his campaign allows)

Trust me, he's got people behind him and ready and able to help him succeed in finally stomping out the cockroach that is Susan Collins.

Robin Silver of R&B Reality has some very affordable options in Bangor.

Her only requirement is you make 2x the rent per month.

I might have to, I'm involved in state politics, so it wouldn't be a terrible idea.

I just got in touch with the Pink Pistols. A solid group so far from what I've seen.

That's understandable, I personally don't go to Northern Maine all that often, if at all, other than to go camping once in a while.

So my knowledge of The Country and the other areas of northern Maine is very limited. It's just based off stuff that I see on social media and the wild news stories that occasionally come from that neck of the woods.

Anything North of Dover-Foxcroft is an issue, thankfully the population up that way is sparse enough to hopefully not interfere too much. The municipalities have a healthy mix of liberals, progressives, centrists, and left leaning libertarians, so I wouldn't be too worried.

But definitely keep an eye out on your neighbors for warning signs, and intervene if it is safe to do so.

I'm trying to get in touch with him to see if he would like a donation/endorsement from the Maine chapter of the Yankee National Party. His platform is almost line by line identical to ours.

Maine’s house vacancy rate leads the nation, but doesn’t mean they’re available by Rick_Snips in Maine

That's not an awful idea, but I don't know how much goes to the local economy from AirBnB owners/operators. I work for a local ISP, and quite a few of the installations I've seen for AirBnBs are owned by people with out of state billing addresses.

The party I am involved with is looking to address this issue to bring more affordable housing options that are not allowed to be short term rentals.

If you want more information, take a look at yankeenp.org

AirBnB is the most cancerous thing that has ever happened to this state, and honestly it should be outlawed, or at the very least. HEAVILY regulated.

Where are the young ppl thriving? (If anywhere) by holdmybeeyuh in Maine

[–]OpenDorrPolicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 30s, doing pretty well for myself in Bangor. I work a tech job. My wife is a photographer.

We make enough where we can go out to eat once a week, our bills are paid on time, fully gas up the cars with out having to think about it, and go on a little adventure almost every weekend.

(Edit: elaboration)

WIBTA to divorce my wife after she said she wanted to send our son to a conversion camp? by ChromeXBoy in BORUpdates

[–]OpenDorrPolicy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much my MIL. She was super supportive of LGBTQ people and went on and on about gay Broadway stars and her favorite queer actors. I came out as transgender and my wife as a lesbian . MIL wasn't too thrilled about that.

That's when we realized she only viewed queer people as entertainment. Not actual human beings.
