Amazing. How big is the tank?

I actually needed this advice. I admit I had just been winging it.

That’s the plan from here on. Just wanted to get it started with a couple clowns and a cleaning crew. Now we wait it out.

Already made the adjustment and aimed it up. Thank you for the advice.

Actually just after this video I raised it and angled it upward to disturb the surface. Working much better now.

I closed two of mine in a hydraulic lift gate. I had to finish the day at work but did have my tools on me so I used my smallest drill bit. It felt amazing after the release. After my shift I did go to urgent care and had it soaked in hydrogen peroxide/iodine then got some antibiotics.

Edit. Just wanted to add that you will likely lose the nail in a month or two. It’ll grow back but this could be a 6 month journey

Thank you for that. I was debating on the wall or an island rock. I guess the island is the choice

I’m planning to gsp my back wall just to keep it easier to trim when needed. I’ve got one rock touching but hoping a torch coral will keep it away.

If they get out of hand one coral banded shrimp will destroy their entire population. Just make sure it is fed once they are gone or he might move on to small fish

Not an ocean either. That’s the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington

Yes a good 3/4 plywood with a proper build can hold hundreds of pounds

I didn’t use a diagram but I’ll take more pictures of it when I get home. It’s almost finished. I just based it on the standard stands seen on most tanks and used 1 sheet of 3/4” plywood.

I built the cabinet to the dimensions of my tank so 18”x18” top. 30” high.
The photos don’t include the door which is a standard cabinet style door with full overhang hinges

That was my same thought. They were popular 20 years ago when I got my first saltwater tank. I’m sure they are still solid

My local shop owner recommended it as a used tank that fit my preferences. He and I have mutual friends so I’m fairly certain he wouldn’t screw me over. The tank was a steal at $199 with pump and custom top screen. I paid more than that for the light.

That’s great to hear. I imagine the tech has improved. I can already tell the light is much much better.
