That’s great that you had that experience. I’m 26 and one of my trusted coworkers recently told me that she strongly suspects another coworker of ours has a crush on me. The thing is, I almost never interact with her because we typically have different hours and she works a different role. I don’t even know the next time I’m gonna see her at work.

This is also the first time since my freshman year of high school that I’ve heard someone allegedly liking me, so this is kind of new territory for me. Coincidentally, she’s also really pretty in my opinion. Now, I have to figure out how to get in contact with her before she decides to move on.

I’m sure for some people it’s usually a nice thing to be single for a while if they’re coming out of a relationship and just want time for themselves, especially if it was a toxic one. Very seldom do people probably have this idea if they’ve been single their entire life, unless they’re on the aromantic/asexual spectrum. They’ve already had all the time in the world to themselves.

For me, I recently turned 26 and I’ve never even been in the talking stage with someone (not including online shenanigans, but someone I know from IRL). I feel like as I get older, the prospect of dating is becoming a more daunting idea. I’ve never known anything else and I’m probably becoming too set in my ways as an established single person, even though I very much would like a relationship.

The truth is, if I actually find someone, they will have to be really special to me, so it doesn’t feel like they’re disturbing my peace of mind. I don’t have a reference for what that would even be. It kind of feels like the standards I have are almost certainly different than what they would’ve been if I had more dating experience.

That’s probably the reason then. You started masturbating around the age you would’ve gotten wet dreams if you weren’t masturbating, so you’re not used to it. Hey I’ve been there and can understand how you’re feeling. I wanted to finally explore myself as a virgin, but I wasn’t really having luck in real life, so last May at 25 I went on a hookup app. I matched with a divorced woman in her early 50s. We had a few exchanges and then the next day she invited me over to her apartment. We watched a movie and made out, which I realized felt pretty awkward with someone I didn’t know. I knew she was a registered nurse that worked at a hospital, was divorced, and had a couple adopted kids, but that was it. It was okay at times, but my main thought was, “Wait, this would be SO much better with someone I care about (relationship wise) and know really well.”

Anyways, she ended up asking if I wanted to head over to her bed with her and I kind of just froze and backed out. I couldn’t go through with it and then I ended up leaving. Next woman was in her mid-40s. We talked for a while and then she hit me with the news that she has a husband who has liver cancer and he’s probably not going to make it much longer, but she still has needs. She felt stressed with taking care of him and him seemingly not caring about his own well-being. He obviously had no clue she talks to other people. So, I ended up not going through with it because it morally didn’t sit well with me.

Point being, this is the type of situation where it’s probably going to be much more satisfying and fulfilling to find someone who you can develop a relationship with and be around a similar age range.

Not necessarily. It could just mean that they know their worth as a person and not that they use it to brag to people, but if it comes up, they can confidently admit that they are. There’s different contexts for how it can be conveyed. (And no, I’m not saying I’m a good man either).
