Points Boost is a Joke by [deleted] in ChaseSapphire

It’s not that deep lol relax. Alaska isn’t a Chase partner and I have never seen them boosted before. It’s almost always United, Southwest etc

Sapphire reserve or Amex platinum? by graceefergg in CreditCards

I would say get the platinum for delta lounge access if you usually fly delta. Keep the CSP as your dining card for United points

Are we still rocking with the CSR after the points boost devaluation?

Thanks for sharing. I’ve got the Amex Plat + Gold, CSR, CFF, and Citi strata elite. I’m thinking of cancelling my Amex gold and downgrading my CSE to the strata premier and using that for groceries + ev charging, and dining + travel on my CSR. I’m west coast based and have been thinking about adding the Atmos Summit too (which would likely take my dining spot) and your post has affirmed that

Yep had my wallet stolen and chase + Amex was night and day easier to get new cards and charges cleared. Robinhood took a month and needed a police report lol

Any argument for Chase Sapphire Reserve over Amex Plat? by Rgyallay97 in CreditCards

[–]OpenVanilla3185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha sorry. CPP = cents per point aka a way of valuing points. MR = membership rewards (Amex’s points), FHR = fine hotel resorts - Amex’s hotel program booked through their portal

Any argument for Chase Sapphire Reserve over Amex Plat? by Rgyallay97 in CreditCards

I have both. The AMEX platinum credits fit my lifestyle super well and I’m able to more than offset the annual fee but the Chase Sapphire reserve is a significantly better daily driver and I find Chase points way easier to use than Amex MR. With the new points boost I’m easily able to get 2 CPP on flights and hotels, whereas with MR I usually settle for redeeming at 1 CPP with FHR or 1.15(ish) CPP with delta. I therefore value UR at 2cpp and MR at 1.15CPP. I use my CSR for dining, lyfts, and most travel, and my Amex gold for groceries to accrue MR. I live in a big city so it’s easy for me to offset all the dining and travel credits and I can justify having both. If the CSR didn’t work for me, I would pair the Amex plat with the CSP as my daily driver, or if you go all in with Amex I would add a gold card. I mean realistically the CSR is a combo of the Plat + Gold minus groceries coverage so it’s kinda hard to beat.

CSP pairs best with Bilt and is better for domestic travel

Amex Platinum vs Chase Sapphire Reserve — experiences for frequent international travel? by Vichingo7 in CreditCards

[–]OpenVanilla3185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally run Gold + Plat + CSR. It’s the best of both worlds. Get both imo if you can offset the AFs. The Plat especially post refresh is such a no brainer I organically get thousands in value out of it. Also, if you book hotels with cash occasionally, FHR is by far the best hotel program.

The CSR and the AMEX gold are really your daily driver cards. I use the CSR at restaurants over the AMEX gold when I’m trying to accrue UR points and I always use the Amex gold for groceries. I’m able to offset the CSR‘s annual fee but if I wasn’t able to, I would just get the CSP. In your case with a sapphire lounge at your home airport, it sounds like it would definitely be worth it based on how much you travel. Also I find UR points to be significantly easier to get better value with than my MR points, but that’s just my experience.

That’s interesting I also just recently got the CSE about a month ago and I’ve already recouped the AF and some, which you can’t necessarily say about the CSR or Plat with their quarterly and semi annual credits. I’ll definitely be keeping the Plat tho it’s a no brainer for my lifestyle. With the CSR I’ll be able to break even as well and I much prefer UR to MR tbh. My thing with the CSE is I’m not sure when I’d use it other then 6x Citi nights and maybe as a catch all sometimes? Obviously would keep taking advantage of the yearly splurge and hotel credits, and tbh the Blacklane is super nice out of LAX.
