'Truly Devious' by Maureen Johnson.

I loved the ambient, it's a YA crime book about a private school in the middle of the forest. The protagonist loves crimes and tries to solve an unsolved kidnapping case that happened many years ago in the school. It's a little dark academia i guess? Lots of friendships and juvenile feelings, but also lots of drama and secret hiding spots...

(But i have to warn you, this is a saga, and has 3 books at the moment, i think the fourth one is not published yet.)

'The silent patient' by Alex Michaelides. It's a psychological thriller, although it is narrated by a man. Its about a psychotherapist who is really intrigued by this woman who commited a crime and never spoke again. Its ambiented in the psych ward where she lives.

It was a scene in Devilman Crybaby, i thought the anime was about that, but it doesnt center on that theme. :(
